i would pit roast him!
Thing southern style here for a minute. You hear of a pig picking? They did a pit and then slow cook a whole big in there for hours and hours. When we do pig pickings, they throw in turkey, chicken and whatever else people drag over for the part. Its a good way to add in...
This looks like the most likely one... http://shop.nativeseeds.org/collections/squash-cushaws/products/ea028
...seeing I got this from someone with a diverse garden, she probably just mislabeled her stored squash seed.
These are SUPER thriving all over my garden. I keep finding more and more...
I sprinkle DE around my beds (lettuce, strawberries, ect) and it keeps the snails and slugs away when the weather is dry. When it gets went, I have to reapply. Its affordable though and worth every penny!
So very cute!
I just replaced all my knobs in my kitchen with 1/2 moon pulls and blew $200. (I also matched the bathroom) Too bad, I'll share the link though, I'm sure someone out there will grab those up.
I am so very sorry to hear of your loss, and the family issues that went along with it. Its hard enough what you are going through without the added stress from someone else having their hands in the mix. Sounds a lot like my family.
I wish you luck with getting through whatever the issues may...
So, I have no idea what these squash are. Someone gave me a pack of seeds and said they were butternut. I'm pretty sure they aren't. They're almost ripe and the shape and color is definitely wrong. They even have a very textured skin. Any idea what they may be, or if they're a mix and perhaps...
I think they are absolutely LOVELY! I've never heard of that type... but then again, there are 100's of tomatoes and it will be a long time before I learn them all. If that is at all possible! :P
That reminds me, about 2 weeks ago the chickens started molting heavily, which seems early to me. Of course we're lacking in eggs now. Have yours begun a molt yet?
Time sure did get away from me!
The last couple of weeks I had been busy with the family, went on vacation and enjoyed unusually comfortable weather. The family helped me get a lot done in the garden recently, weeding, cleaning up spent plants, transplanting and planting fall crops. My garden...
I haven't done much lately, but I have plans for today since I'm on vacation still... might as well get some work done.
The grapes are done early and we're picking today, I'll be back with pictures of that! :)
We pulled the bush beans and will be planting spinach, carrots and cabbage now...
I'm glad you found what you wanted. I got a couple that popped up in the woods here. They're no bigger then like 3 ft tall. There are bunches around where I live, and they are just naturally part of the southern landscape. So I'm not sure how they'd do in the north, or what types are meant for...
I always bring stuff, even if people ask me not to. And I'll say, its usually appreciated by the other guests because its exactly what you are talking about.... among a sea of store bought potato salad and from a box pasta salad I'll bring fresh cole slaw, tomato & cuke salad and some fruit...
Yummy Monty!
Those Brandywine are GORGEOUS. Those are some of my favorite to just eat standing in the yard.
I do have to say I'm happy I have a few pounds of Roma we're picking today. I lost all the slicers, but at least I'll have plenty of sauce and salsa this year. I'm a happy me! :)
I had the same issue as Cat. We had 3 very full apple trees this year. One tree had about 30 apples. In about 3 days we went out and there were only 3 left when they were ready to pick. DD and I saw a squirrel that same day come and take 1 of them while we were out in the yard. The squirrels...
