I HATE harlequin bugs! Hate hate hate them. They showed up a few years ago, I'm hoping with the cold winter we had it will kill them off, or at least a lot of them. I'm not planting any the brassica veggies, and they are some of my favorites. I'm found they will also feed off of nasturiums and...
I don't know about that, I have feverfew, a lot of it. A whole lot of it, and the bees go to it. Bubble bees, honey bees and I've seen little wasp type bugs too. I assume they are parasitic type, that's what they look like to me anyway. Definitely doesn't repel them.
Looks similar to my broccoli when I let it flower. I tried one, tasted like broccoli. So I used some of the flowers in a salad, it was pretty and tasty.
Years ago we moved into a house and in the spring pink daffodils popped up among many other bulbs. They came up every year without have care and kept their color. A few years ago we moved and I dug them up, they come up every year for me but haven't flowered, not sure why. I have added more pink...
Walking around outside, and what do I see... Japanese beetles. I have looked but this is the first time seeing them. And harlequin bugs. I have no idea how to control the harlequin bugs, we had them really bad last year.
We have had a ton of rain over the last month or so. Then when it finally clears up the temps jump up to 90+ degrees. Now the temp is coming down, but there is a change of rain for the next seven days... ugg.
LOL. They are both fixed. I don't think they actually went after them. Though I know the one cat would have no problems doing so, he loves to pick on other animals, like the dogs. I assume it was the smell of a predator in the area. We didn't let the cats out for the first six months or so, and...
Maybe not normally. But they did this time. There was big time issues and damage from groundhogs when we first moved in here. Neighbors had live traps out and had tried to get ride of them for years. As soon as we moved in here and let the cats out the ground hogs moved else where. We know this...
I don't care about a bite here or there. So far so good. From what I have seen it will still stick around even after a rain. I had sprayed then we had a really bad rain, but I had forgotten to spray some hostas that were in the back of the yard. The next morning when I too the dogs out I looked...
Looked up the leaf cutter bees, it doesn't look like that. I don't even know if we have them. Not grasshoppers either. And we have no groundhogs around here. Years ago we had a family, but they moved out when the cats started to go outside. We do have plenty of deer, squirrels and a family of...
I have had problems with deer eating my plants this year. I really don't care if they have a bite here or there, but they were eating EVERYTHING. Cherry tree, hostas, daylilies, coneflowers, black eyed susans, geraniums, stock, sunflowers, moss rose, potato flowers??!! and some other random...
This year is crazy so far, first we had weeks of rain. Lots and lots of rain. Now we are having days of 90+ degree heat. On top of that deer ate most of my day lilies and cone flowers/black-eye susans and ate all the lower leaves off my new cherry tree, breaking some of the branches in the...
So I planted asparagus this year. I have never grown it before. Well, years ago we had one little plant that was there when we moved into the house, but that doesn't really count. So the spears are popping up all over. But they are thin. I don't know if this is because this is their first year...
That's what I was thinking too. I have the stuff all over, ugg. Hate that plant. Luckily it is easy to pull, but grows so fast. I would start pulling now.
Older post I know, just wanted to say I feed my dogs (and cats) a raw diet. Have been for nearly ten years. And there is not much of it from three dogs, ranging from 45-75 pounds. My guys waste is about the same size as the little shih tzus that live next door for the most part. And it will turn...
I give my dogs fresh garlic and b complex vitamins. One of the b vitamins repels bugs, forget which one it is right now. I use no chemicals on my dogs at all. I have been doing this for about seven years now with very good luck. I have also heard to add real apple cider vinegar to their drinking...
Sixth photo down, I think I see a harlequin bug. I had them last year, but I don't remember them going after my tomatoes or potatoes. Though they suck the juices, not chew on the plants. They were horrible here last year, I ended up having to pull some of my veggies and flowers.
