I have read they like sunflowers and this is in the sunflower family. It benefits me as well since I can eat the tubers too! I thought they might be fun to try. I will be using the bees as an excuss to plant quite a few things this year!!!

Hello, i thought I would check here first, before I buy from a seed company. Does anyone have any Jerusilum articokes(sunchokes) tubers they would like to sell? I could also trade for seeds. I have a ridiculously huge seed collection. I am wanting to plant the sunchokes for our bees! :bee...
I am also a new beekeeper for this year. We have purchased 2 hives and have bees coming in April. We have some local bee keepers mentoring us and I have a bee keepers workshop coming up on the 17th. I am looking forward to that. We are huge gardeners and really looking forward to the benifits of...
Steve,
BOy, that is too bad. It is unfortunate that so many take so long to set fruit and ripen. DOes it make a difference when you cut off the branches that do not set blosoms, so the plant can put more energy into the branches that have blosoms for fruit?
Here are some more earlier heirloom...
Steve,
We have grown the Amana orange tomato for the last 2 seasons. It is very good, but it is a long season tomato. I start mine very early, but still seem to take about 75-80 days from transplant. I usually am picking them the same time the pineapple are ready. They are worth planting. Do you...

I harvested my first batch of rhubarb today. I have a delicious smelling easy rhubarb dessert baking in the oven as I type.
I will let you know how good it is in a little while and post the recipe too.
I would live some more good rhubarb recipes if anyone has any.
Thanks,

I have been very happy with them also. I was able to get a few peppers and tomatoes from them that I could'nt get from Baker Creek or my other sources. They shipped fast too and I got some free tomato seeds to boot.
Christie :D
Yep, I had to go to another source also due to some of the items I wanted were already sold out too.
Glad I did'nt wait any longer.
Now just have to wait for spring,

Oh, I definetly have a problem! I have so many seeds. I keep them organized in shoebox size totes. 1 for direct sow seeds, 1 for indoor started seeds, 1 for herbs and 1 for flowers...they are stuffed full...and I ordered more seeds.
For Christmas my husband built me 2 more grow light systems...
Red Marconni peppers are my absolute favorite. The best sweet pepper I have ever had...I am not a belle pepper fan, they taste bitter to me. But these marconni reds are fantastic. They are longer than they are wide. Nice peppers for grilling too.
There is also a giant hybrid marconni that is...
I just moved out 4 pieces of furniture out of my dining room to give me more plant space...my kids are grumbling.
All they seem to remember is all the hauling of plants out to the greenhouse during the day and carrying them all back in at night...we did that for a few months. They were my babies...
Not planting yet..but sure want too. We are having a wierd warm up right now...48 degrees here right now, all our snow melted overnight...won't last long...I am sure we will be back to single digits in no time! Mother nature must have her tail in a twist!
Happy New Year,
Christie :D
I have got it too, but I have to control myself. I am an hour south of Chicago and our last frost date is usually around mid May...I started seeds the end of February last year...I had plants everywhere...my dining room looked like a jungle. I am planning on doing it again...but I better not...
Baker creek is a great seed source. I have had excellent luck with them and have another huge order going in. They are very reasonable on their shipping too...$3.00 flat!
Seed savers exchange is great too.
Go online and sign up to get their catalogs...the seed choices are endless and the...
The Pineapple tomato from Baker creek is by far the best tomato I have ever tasted. It is a bycolor- yellow streaked with red. And can reach sizes in excess of 2 lbs. Fantastic.
I also think the Marconni peppers are fantastic. Excellent sweet flavor.
I have my Baker creek order ready!!! :D...
I cut it into long strips like fat spaghetti noodles saute or stem until cooked add favorite marinara or meat sauce and you have veggie spaghetti. My kids and I love it.
