Don't feel like a slacker...I'm a bit over zealous! I still have 3 - 72 cell flats that are empty...might have to fill them tonight!!!
I am feeling springy it's been 45 degrees here the last 2 days!!

I have never tried to save seeds, so it will be new for me this year, but I am going to try. i will need pointers though.
As for your marigolds, you have the best color! I love yellow flowers, any and all kinds.
Christie :)
Thank you Steve. I was pretty vauge. I want the good bugs, and would like to do my best to prevent the bad bugs. I definetly do not want to purposly attract any, I like the idea of plants that repel.
Are there any plants for attracting good bugs that you would reccomend as well?
Thanks...
are their certain plants that are proven to prevent certain bugs on the garden or for certain plants? If so, could you list what ones and what they do for the garden? Maybe how many in ratio to # of garden plants that need to be planted to be effective?
I have heard petunias, marigolds - not...
I liked the artical too. I also have already picked tomatos that they say grow good in the midwest.
I have a question? what is borage? We do not have a hornworm problem, but I don't want one either. Does borage prevent hornworms? How much of it do you have to plant?
Christie :)

Thank you for all the good wishes. I hope you are right and they grow. I have never had good luck with house plants, I either over water or under water...I just tend to do better with plants outside! I am hoping with time, my thumbs will get a little greener!!!
It is looking up outside...
We have almost all our seeds, waiting on some that are in the mail as I type!!!
I won't be buying any plants till early May as well. But hopefully if I get the hang of seed starting in the house...I won't have to buy many!!!
Christie
Lucky you!! I am still dreaming of spring! Though it is suposed to be 50 this weekend...I am not looking forward to all the mud, but warm is good!
This is a photo of part of our garden last year, I am not good about taking photos, I will have to get better about that. We had over 70 tomato...
Well, I have jumped in with both feet. I have tons of seeds (I tend to do things big when I start something!) I just filled 144 holes. Figured I would start with some flowers and herbs, if they actually grow...I will start some peppers and tomatos in the next few weeks. I will let you know how...
I'm a byc'er too, I crossed over from the old ezboard byc when the current byc board started and then driffted over here too! Hope to absorb all the experienced gardner knowledge that is here!!!!
Glad to be here,
Christie :D
You can get heritage tomato and pepper plants shipped to you like that from Seed Savers Exchange also. They are in Iowa, but their plants are shipped from Wisconsin...a little closer to you too!
They have some pretty neat varieties.
Christie :D
It had ridges like that, very pronounced especially while green, but they were heart shaped like the oxhearts, but still maintained slight ridges once rippened and they were huge!
Those are a pretty neat looking tomato too though!
Christie :)
Thanks for the input. I think I will start my serious planning and hopefully get some seeds started in the next week or two.
My thumbs are not that green, so wish me luck!
Christie :D
Thank you for all the great links.
Crystal, I think the giant oxheart could be it, it does'nt seem to have the ridges, but I am going to try it and see. It does have the same leaf type, size, and similar fruit shape.
Thanks,
Christie
Last year we were given some heritage tomato plants, from a friend, but he could'nt remember its name, he has a nursery and saves seeds from all over the world. Naturally, not being a experienced gardener, I never thought to save seeds or take photos.
Here is a basic description, I have not...
I am a novice gardener. We usually buy seeds and started plants for our garden and plant them directly in the ground around late May.
If I were to start seeds in the house, when should I start them for them to be decent size to transplant outside around the end of May?
My husband bought me a...
