I don't remember which one it is :barnie I bought four blueberries when I worked at a nursery about five years ago. I think I had O'neal, Misty, Southmoon and one other, but 2 of the four died over the years. I think I killed them, because I didn't know about not using Nitrate based fertilizer...
Thanks:) I always thought blueberries were hard to grow in N. California until my mom's neighbor put in nearly 60 acres of blueberries. He's still planting more and another two neighbors put in 20+ acres each too. He's growing the Duke variety commercially.
Mine were bought as large 1 gallon...
Beautiful tree. Just don't plant them where you park your car, near power lines or next to your house. My sister just had to pay $1500 to get one removed. It had a rotten core due to improper pruning. It dropped a limb on her new car :th
It was too close to the road, house and power lines to...
I was told to feed twice in the spring with a weak fertilizer. Cottonseed meal is supposed to work really well if you want to use a more natural fertilizer.
I have 16 blue berries in 1/2 wine barrels. This is their second year and they are doing great. Drainage and soil Ph is a problem for me...
I also recomend that you talk to your local nursery to see what pollenator you need. I have two that should work together, but I also didn't get any fruit this year. A late hard frost got all the blooms. The peaches and nectarines set some fruit despite the frost. Apricots really don't do well...
Sounds like my DH, He's the reason why my "hoard" remains under control  But, I "slipped" and planted 14 tomato plants this year ....oops 15 counting the dwarf bush tomato I just tucked between some others. I'm the only one in my family that eats raw tomatoes

Awww, thanks Steve :)
One of my favorite heirloom roses is Marie Pavie from 1888 a near white blend polyantha shrub. It's the small white rose that's cascading out of the pot. I love it because it's just a power house of blooms from spring till frost and smells wonderful.
The two japanese...
:fl they make it for you. I bet most of they will rebound quickly. I almost lost my garden to a late frost. The weather man got it really wrong. It wasn't in the mid 40's overnight...it dropped to 31 :th About half of my veggie and tomato plants show damage, but look like they will make it. Not...
Thanks Steve :)
I constantly have to battle the urge to buy, buy, buy LOL. You should of seen the "hoard" when I worked at the nursery...everything from orchids, roses, cactus to fruit trees were in 100's and 100's of pots. At one time I had nearly a 100 roses in pots alone. So I guess I'm a...
I have a bad habit of buying plants or propagating plants without having a place ready or picked out where they can be planted. I collect plants that are hard to find, neat or just a good buy :hide Here is my "hoard" of plants. :P
At least the plants give the teenage chicks a place to hide...
I forgot to add that Lantana most of the time has a strong smell when the leaves are crushed. I doubt many four legged critters would eat it because it's deer resistant. If a deer wouldn't eat it....nothing would LOL.

I use a bait type of fly trap, but it can get stinky so don't put one close to where you like to hangout. I keep it down by my chicken coop as they attract flies. Right now I've been invaded by it seems like 100,000+ flies. Somewhere on my neighbor's property is a dead wild hog that got shot. It...
My momma taught me that electricity and water never mix.:hide
My first thought that crossed my mind was about getting a nasty electric shock oneday.
But other than that, I would love to get!

I'm trying for oranges (bi-colored) and yellows:
Sungold
Sunsugar
Lemon boy
Hillbilly
Gold Medal
Big Rainbow
I also heard that Jubilie was good and I wanted to try Pineapple too, but ran out of room :)
My MIL gets a bit upset when I cook a "what ever sounds good" meal. I love just tossing things together in the crock pot or as soup and seeing how it turns out. On the other hand, She refers to a recipe to make sure she measures each ingredient to perfection.

I'm trying a Brandywine again this year. Years ago I tried them a few times and got pretty much nothing. The few tomatoes I did get had blossom rot so bad that they weren't edible. I stopped trying them:(
This year with a new place and new garden I'm trying one again. I put some oyster shell in...
I think they are late migrating this year. I have dozens and dozens of them here in N. California. I've seen nearly a dozen Rufous and last year I didn't have any visit. The Rufous migrate all the way to Canada, but the Anna's are here all year.
I have so many hummers swarming my two feeders...
About 6 years ago I worked ordering/selling plants at a major "box store" nursery. Prices sure have increased. I got sticker shock when I went to buy some shrubs in 1 gallon pots. I bet they were $2 or$3 more than they were back then. This was just for common indian hawthornes, lily of the nile...
