    Owwwwwww !!!!!

Ouch! My knees hurt just thinking about all that stooping and bending and walking around like that. Might I suggest a little turmeric to help with the inflamation? It's good stuff, lots of medically acknowledged benefits. In the meantime, you have plenty of time to plan plan plan the next...

    Your boring/interesting/exciting Weather!

After a month-early spring, with daffodils, forsythia and fruit-bearing trees all in bloom, last night it was 22 degrees. My neighbors have had the heat generators on in their orchards all night long. I hope they saved the flowers.

    Vegetables to lower cholesterol?

Count me in as one of those who don't think all the info out there is accurate when it comes to cholesteral. My grandmother and my mother were both on cholesteral meds for years that gave them leg pain. But they both had trigliceride numbers over 200, so they did what the doctor said. My...

    PEPPER EGGS

Pretty! Do you flip them over, or baste them or anything like that? Or do they cook all the way through from one side? They all look so tasty and appetizing.

new to gardening. now needing to fix mistakes

Just a quickie drop in here to say that you did not make mistakes. You created learning experiences. Trust me, we have ALL had lots of learning experiences when it comes to gardening. It's part of the process, and that's why places like this are so valuable to me. I have avoided lots of...

Check out this amazing soda bottle garden!

Thanks! I don't know why I didn't realize that they would need to lay flat to be planted. And I like the idea of letting them stay that way for a few days until the plants get established. I think some vining plants and some annuals would make for a very pretty pallet garden.

Check out this amazing soda bottle garden!

Wow, a pallet garden. That is neat! I'm going to have to google that to see how they went about planting it. On my local craigslist, there's always free pallets for the picking. This would really dress up the fence around my garden. People are so creative!

Check out this amazing soda bottle garden!

I wonder about that, too, but since there's little tending required, I wouldn't mind cutting them smaller than usual and resowing.

Check out this amazing soda bottle garden!

http://www.thisiscolossal.com/2013/02/urban-vertical-garden-built-from-hundreds-of-recycled-soda-bottles/ This put me in mind of the "gutter garden" that someone started last year. I like this idea because the soda bottles are small enough that most anybody will have room to add a few. I'm...

    God made a farmer

And THAT is why I want to be a farmer when I grow up. (I'm at the tag end of the baby boomer generation.)

A light at the end of the tunnel!

Steve got it right. I'm in the southeastern corner of Washington State, near the Columbia River. On a clear day I have a "sliver of the river" view from my front windows. Contrary to the popular image, this part of Washington gets little rain, only 7-8 inches a year here. Thank goodness for...

    Our best crop was weeds!

That weed that looks like a carrot top sounds like Queen Anne's Lace. It is a relative of wild carrots, and it draws beneficial insects into the garden. Of course, it can be a nuisance if it's in the wrong place, but it has it's merits.

A light at the end of the tunnel!

It's been grey and cold for weeks, and I've been cooped up in the house working on a big spreadsheet project. Finally, this morning, there were a few fluffy clouds but a mostly blue sky. Hubby asked me to walk outside with him so he could show me something. There they were! The first green...

    Your boring/interesting/exciting Weather!

I'm near you, in the Tri Cities area of Washington. We've had mostly overcast days since mid-November, but except for a couple weeks total, the temps have not been that bad. Kind of a roller-coaster ride temp-wise. It was barely above freezing for the highs for a while, then we had a few 50...

I have to tell someone who understands....

Yep, I knew I was in the right place to share my excitement. And I got some good advise, too! The poo is already aged a bit, and it has some straw bedding in it of course, but it looks really good. The gal even posted a poo picture on her freebie craigslist posting. It's nice and crumbly...

I have to tell someone who understands....

My dorkitude is working overtime lately. Today I am very excited because I am getting FOR FREE 10 cubic yards of stall & stable muck-out stuff from an Arabian horse farm that uses all organic products. They're even delivering it for free this weekend! :tools I told my son, and his first...

Umm, About that Car in Your Driveway

Hoodat, thank you for making the sensible choice, even though I know the loss of instant mobility must have been hard to swallow. I know just what you mean about scrambled brains; it took quite a while before I was fully back to sturdy after my coma, and I'm 40 years younger than you.

    My new lettuce gutters!

We bought some gutters last year for this project but it was too late/too hot to give it a good trial. We're ready this year, with gutters attached to posts and seeds ready to go as soon as the last frost date passes. If we get some good results, I'll post pictures here.
