It's been grey and cold for weeks, and I've been cooped up in the house working on a big spreadsheet project. Finally, this morning, there were a few fluffy clouds but a mostly blue sky. Hubby asked me to walk outside with him so he could show me something. There they were! The first green shoots of the daffodils were poking their little green heads above the ground. I got so excited that I decided to take a walk around the property.
Well!
The peach trees and the other fruit trees are all showing nice fat buds. The forsythia actually have a few tiny leaves! The grass is green. There were a couple of magpies in the backyard and a group of ducks in the sky, haggling over their turf.
I know it's only the end of January, and there's still some chilly weather ahead, but I think I'll spend tomorrow getting out the seed starting supplies and potting up a few seeds, just in case we have an early spring.
