I have not been able to locate a source at all that will ship packaged bees. If anyone has a source, I would be quite a happy camper, and so would the bees. I have three acres that I keep organic and am surrounding by orchards and hayfields. I'm in Washington State.
TIA :) :fl :bee
Thanks, Rosalind, that's some good food for thought. I'm in SE Washington state, zone 6a-7a, depending on what map you look at. Little or no summer rain, so whatever I put in will get watered with the lawn sprinklers. Any tips or suggestions are very welcome.
I have a l-o-n-g fence towards the front of our property that I want to plant lilacs along. Since they are only in bloom for such a brief period, I am thinking about interplanting the lilacs with honeysuckle vines, so that they would hopefully twine into the lilac bushes and brighten up the...
Peonies will tolerate a little shade, but they really prefer full sun. If they aren't happy where they are, it's very possible that there won't be blooms. If it turns out to be a peony, you can transplant it this fall, but it will likely sulk for a year or two before blooming.
Today is the official "last freeze date" here, too. We had an early spring, but a couple nights in the high 20s last week. Glad I waited and didn't get suckered by those daffodils blooming in March.
Today is predicted to be in the low 70s and only a few widely scattered clouds. Well! It...
I would be very cautious in ordering anything from Burgess and their other companies out of Bloomington, Il. On the Garden Watchdog website, all of the companies have more negative ratings than positive. This jibes with what I've personally experienced with them.
Tackweed, goat head, punctureweed....whatever you want to call it, the stuff is hideous! I've had my feet punctured right through my Keds by the seeds of that nightmare stuff. My poor dog routinely comes home limping, with a goathead in one of her paws. We can't even eradicate the stuff with...
I thought Angel's Trumpets didn't grow true to color from seed? I bought some on ebay that are supposed to be triple-flowered yellow, but I won't be surprised if they are white. I'd be thrilled to find out otherwise, the pic on ebay was gorgeous.
Hands down.....tomatoes! Also very very fond of poblano peppers and Anaheim chilis, cucumbers, carrots, radishes, broccoli, etc etc etc. Can't stand brussel sprouts or okra. Giving a single eggplant a trial this year, to see if it's really as bad as hubby says.
NinnyMary, I've gotten Home Depot gift certs for Christmas for about five years now. My in-laws think I'm nuts, so they always toss in a pair of earrings or a Macy's gift card, too. Those are nice, but.......gimme that Home Depot card and I'm in heaven.
Nice!
Why didn't I realize that I could make a rectancle of 2x4s to size and site the arbor, as well as truing the angles. It just takes one picture or video to clarify these sort of questions for me. Thanks for posting.
