Thanks ducks4you, I haven't cut them. Now I'm glad I didn't. They are over 6 feet tall and I had to "tie" them up to get them out of the garden path and other beds. I may have to build a fence around the box to support them in future years. Wild hairy things, lol.

I have plenty of compost with all the animals I have here, lol. That is an excellent idea, I can refresh the soil and plant a few cucumbers and the rest with winter squash. I am replanting the cucumbers in a different bed, I am determined to make pickles this year!

I've got those coming in by droves on bamboo teepee's. I wish I could grow more cucumbers there, but I think I would be setting myself up for an epic fail. I also wish I had loofah seeds. Are winter squash susceptible to cucumber fungus/mildew?
