I accidentally uprooted a morning glory plant that was growing up a basket handle in my garden. When I realized what I had done, I stuck the root inside dirt in the basket and kept it well watered. At first the leaves looked good, but then a few of them shriveled up, and the vine now appears...
Sooo pretty, and I love the names of these pretty pinks, aftermidnight. Smart Red, I finally dug up your pretty blue pinks and potted them up in full sun and cut off the legginess.. They are hanging on. Some new leaves are showing at the base of the plants. Fingers crossed that they will make...
They came back, after having been mowed down, and I dug them up and transplanted 4 sections of them, and they seem to be doing well in their new locations.
It WAS lack of water. I poured 4 gallons on it, and it looks so much better. So weird that two trees growing right together like that could act so differently, getting the same amount of water. One is thriving, the other was nearly dead from thirst. Bizarre! Glad it perked up, though.
I found this. I suspect it needs more water? Maybe it doesn't get hit by the sprinkler as much as the healthier, more established Mountain Ash? http://gardening.yardener.com/Caring-For-Mountain-Ash
I have 2 Mountain Ash trees in my yard, planted close together. One looks fine, the other looks sick. Just now I weeded around it. I recall reading that they don't do well competing with weeds, but the healthy one has just as many weeds around it.
The sickly one got hit with a late freeze a...
Yes, it's too bad the flower haters made me rip up all the flowers in the front bed. That soil was perfect, and everything thrived there, and it was on a slope, so it drained. It sure looks ugly now, with no flowers. And none of them did well when transplanted to my yard, which must have clay...
Oh, it grew beautifully for 10 years out front in the raised bed. I'm sure it would be blooming beautifully there had it not been ripped out, so lucky...
My Missouri Primrose I transplanted last spring sulked all last summer, but it came back this spring, very puny, just a few leaves. But today when I went to look at it, it was gone! Do you suppose it died in the sun (very hot weather here in Utah). Or do you suppose it got root rot? Very few...
I think it is the heat thing, Nyboy. I'll bet you are right. We've had several days of temps over 100, and my hose IS in the hot sun, stretched out. You've made me feel a lot better.
I'm having a lot of trouble setting up misters for the chickens. What makes a hose blow? I had a heavy duty hose attached to one mister yesterday, and it blew out 2 times. Fixed it with a clamp end, only to have it blow out again. Ditto with the lighter-weight hoses. Attached two to a different...
