    labyrinth, anyone?

Who has designed their flower, or other, garden as a labyrinth? Any pics.? If I ever have a plant nursery I might set it up that way as an attractant. No one can leave until they see it all... I'll invite Jack Nicholson to the opening.

anyone else noticed paper wasps are missing?

Plenty here. What bother me are the surprise hornets nesting in the ground.

    Wild Flower Bouquets

Same boat here. Any new clothes I get are second hand. My mortgage is my priority. BUT, there are those not currently in same boat. And those who live in apartments with no grass. And folks needing gifts for sweeties, mothers, and the sick or lonely. I've personally never bought a plant without...

    Choose Your Favorite Seasonal Flower

In the spring, daffodils. My most comforting memory is of being about 4 yrs. old, lying on a hillside literally yellow with thousands of blossoms, all carefully divided and planted by my mother. The harbingers of spring waved over my little head and filled the air with subtle perfume. When...

    Purple Hull Peas

We have grown them. Yes, they'll run on the ground. Not nec. to support. Pretty carefree. Just push around the other plants, and walk through the jungle, unless they bother you enough to thin out. Prolific if they get enough water to fill out. If some dry on the vine you can use for dried peas...

Whatta ya know about growing hazelnuts/filberts?

Cool. Need to plant some hiding bushes for the chickens when I get around to cutting down all these old naturalized Bradford pear crosses, or whatever they are, that took over the pasture here before I bought it. Thorn covered pear trees with no usable fruit. Give me real pears! Guess I'll get...

    Wild Flower Bouquets

Do keep us updated from time to time on how you're doing with the flower marketing. Sounds like possibly more profitable than selling veggies, and eggs, for sure. This is inspirational!

    Corn

Oh yeah, there's a phrase; "Laying it by". Means after it get a little size, hoe it once, then leave it alone or you'll damage the roots.

    Corn

We space the same as any other veggie rows. Just remember, you need two or more rows next to each other; you don't want to plant just one row or you won't get good pollination, or wind stability.

Whatta ya know about growing hazelnuts/filberts?

I love hazelnuts (filberts) and have catalogs that say the shrubs or bushes grow here (Ga.) I think I read they're like a hedge. Anybody grown these?

    Weird weed question

See there! See there! I knew my friend and I weren't the only ones! And she is NOT imaginary...really! Start noticing. Frilly leaf plants end up with frilly leaf weeds. Reddish plants, reddish weeds, etc. Perhaps those garden gnomes are messing with the Elf's garden...and Lesa's.

Listerine vs. Mosquitos...Science and experience clash

Another thing not to bother with, for flies, anyway: I sprayed 2 flies on my screen with the new Hot Shot Natural Flying Insect Spray with lemongrass oil. It mildly annoyed them. Tried to drown them with it, one wandered into a spiderweb and MAY have eventually met his demise. It might work on...

    Weird weed question

This sounds strange, but has anyone else noticed that when you plant a row of something, the type weeds that end up growing there look very similar to what you planted? It's as though they're camouflaging to keep you from digging them up. I thought this "law of similars" was my imagination...

Help!!! - need to get rid of Poison Ivy/Poison Oak naturally

You are sooo lucky to both not be allergic to it. But you can develop allergies at any time. Just in case, Washing with Tecnu from drugstore helps.

    Wild Flower Bouquets

I'm remembering now that a co-worker used to sell her tulips to a florist, so that may be a market for the bouquets, as well as farmer's markets, if you have a lot to sell.

    Wild Flower Bouquets

Don't know about prices, but I think these will sell well. What a great idea! I had totally overlooked this idea for supplemental income, now that I have room for flowergrowing. And the great thing is, with the perennials, cutting the flowers can just make the plants grow better! Now I'm...

The Ultimate (?) "Weapon" against bugs in the garden

They do like to dig some deep dust bath holes. They will nibble on plants, just mainly like the seeds, though. I guess if you could get them in and out of the garden when YOU want, that would be great. Mine, unfortunately, do what THEY please, and there's no way I could chase them down to clip...

    Am I a mulberry tree?

Go Fishing! Or sell the worms to a bait shop. OOps! Thinking of the catalpa tree we had next to our mulberry tree where I grew up.
