Cool! I do like the rectangular pots better. They stack in the trays just right, don't they?
I use a staple and masking tape on mine. Gonna spend the winter nights making pots. Years ago I used to smoke it, now, well... I better let that one go! :weee
What is a garage door tube?
And I love that you have the garden out in the front yard. Personally, I reckon that no one should move to a bigger place until they have fully utilized the space they currently have.
That means producing food out in front, too.
Looks great. You have done a super...
Packing peanuts are great. Old rags work, so does straw. Icve used them in th epast. Bunched up cardbaorad would work too, I think.
Jus ensure that your containers drain well, so no water stands in their bottoms.
Pretty good advice for people, too....
I got my Fond Blanc melon seed the other day, two packs of 25 each. THIS time, I also got a letter telling how I would be a valuable part of the program, collecting data and reporting back next season.
So what changed? My name. I said that we here at TizNotta Farm were now part of The M.U.S.E...
Indeed, no one does anything unless there is some gain. For some it is money and power.
For others, it may be the emotional thrill of ideological victory. The evangelist expects to save your soul, the activst to win the day against the bad guys.
But everyone wants to win.
Personally, from...
We shall have to disagree on the rotten to the core belief. I know this goes against your leanings, but there are many, many businesses and people running them that are not rotten. That politics and big business might be is a given. "Nothing new under the sun," and all that.
You want to see...
I'm one of those that reckon such things work themselves out in their own way. Oh I used to wave my fist at corporate logos - I was a pretty hardcore eff the establishment sort of guy. I grew my hair, ate tofu and stopped wearing underwear - all that stuff.
Then I learned that I can only change...
I kinda missed it in amongst your first post:
I guess I read that as a general condemnation of Monsanto, et al.
I get a lot of seed from Sustainable Seed Company, as well as Baker Creek. Where they get it from is more than I wish to know, long about now....
As the citation mentions, they are merely the subject of controversy. So were Jesus and Ghandi, if you'll recall. Nothing dishonest in that.
I work for the largest pharmaceutical company in the world. We hold patents and rights to more drugs than you can count, many our exclusive property...
SO whats Monsanto's take on this? What's their side of the debate? Anybody have links to that?
For the record, there is nothing new about a company selling its own, proprietary seed. There were competitive "seed wars" in the 19th Century that would surprise us today, with out fair trade laws...
SO Monsanto has somehow "messed with" the seeds I buy.
Like there's some huge seed conspiracy at work, you mean?
What is behind this ministrations? What are they supposed to be doing, anyway, that I need to know about?
I wonder if the NPGS has heard about this?
I have Charletson Wakefield seed, a mid season ball head type. Here's what Baker Creek says about it:
"Larger than Early Jersey Wakefield, (4-6 lbs) and only a little later, this fine variety was developed by Peter Henderson & Co. in 1892. It is a good variety for the South."
I also have some...
Wow, I knew about the benefits of sage tea, but your squash dish sounds awesome!
Sage is one of the ancient herbs and was the Herb of the Year for 2001. A quick tour around the internet yields these tidbits:
WHAT TO DO WITH IT ---------------------------------------
A member of the mint...
Ive tried a few seeds from the spice rack, and so far have had my usual dismal results. The last one I tried, cumin, did nothing but stink up the sprouting pad.
