Thanks for the info Kass and ridgerunner.
Lesa, a trellis is definitely going to be built for next year. I'm thinking an A-frame to connect the 2 raised beds.
I have 2 raised beds that are really over flowing.
Here are the cucumbers
and the tomatoes. There are peppers in there too on the right, but they are a little hard to see. I'm having a problem with blossom end rot with my tomatoes. Is that caused by too much moisture? I've only had one...
My poor in-laws started out with 9 guineas. Now they are down to 4. A black snake got 3 (ate 1, 2 others were dead in the pen). Now something has been picking the rest off. They were just disappearing without a trace but yesterday my MIL noticed the neighbor's black pit bull was coming up...
Funny you made this post Canesisters. I saw 3 kits last night down the road a ways. I always thought foxes were nocturnal. Learn something new every day! Hopefully they don't get interested in your chickens.
These girls will be my breeders. A few more hutches need to be built before I get a buck. Their babies will end up in my freezer. With the price of everything going up. . . . it's more economical to start raising my own food.
I just had some grilled corn last night. We removed the husk and silk and placed each ear on it's own piece of foil. Add butter, salt, pepper. Wrap up the corn and place on the grill. It was yummy!
I still drink caffeine products. I have 2 cups of coffee every morning (sugar and creamer added) and flavored green tea throughout the day (along with water).
What a great thread!
I've lost 5 lbs but changing my diet and I've been moving around a whole lot more with the gardens and chickens/guineas to look after. I cut soda completely out of my diet and I eat most of my fresh veggies out of the garden. Lately its been a lot of zucchini and squash...
I thought I planted all my sunflowers in another spot. I noticed another one growing nearby the one pictured. I guess I need to write down where I plant seeds next year:hide
There is an abundance of honeysuckle growing on the wood line. I would like to find some way to make something out of it. Does anyone have any honeysuckle recipes?
I got a bucket full of freshly picked broccoli today and I need to get it in the freezer asap. I used about 1/4 of it fresh to make a chicken, broccoli, & cheese casserole (which was delicious). I have 3 freezer bags full (2 are going to the MIL) so I have one left that I need to preserve...
I love cherry tomatoes in salads and during the summer I have at least 1 big salad per day. I will eat them by themselves or with other veggies with ranch dressing as a snack as well.
