Will they work behind lilies?
They are close to the same size but since lilies bloom later would the lilies grow slower giving the bellflower plenty of time to show its flowers?
What sort of light should I use? I have a heat lamp and that is about the only portable thing I have. The only fluorescent lights I have are 8+ feet off the ground..

Could I lay down a nice thick layer of newspaper, mulch it, then during planting season put a small layer of dirt down THEN plant the sunflowers.
Couldnt they just grow through the newspaper or would that make them weaker?
