I saw you on BYC a while ago, and it's even funnier now! What a great scenic pic of an Eggplant! :lau

    Gots seeds in the mail...

What a nice lady and great assortment of seeds! :rainbow-sun Lantana is pretty much perennial here, and it sprouts from old growth, so don't do a hard prune in the fall/winter. Datura gets really big, too. And it poisonous as all get out, pretty much the same thing as Jimson Weed. Deadly to...

    Who has a Fairy Garden?

I love them! When I was little, I was told that moss was where the fairies danced at night. I still avoid stepping on moss! :happy_flower

Stupid chicken is destroying my pepper plants

I have had 2 whole gardens destroyed by chickens. Never again will I let a chicken in the garden! They moved through like overgrown locusts! :barnie

    How's everyone's potatoes going?

We are trying sweet potatoes this year, too. So far, just vines. :/ I need to look them up, haven't a clue how to grow them!

What do you wish you had done differently?

Both of the stump removal ideas are great! Since DH is doing the garden, I asked him about what he wishes he'd done differently- he said have the soil tested by the Ag folks at the Clemson Extension Office.

My Avocado Pipped! Uh, I Mean Sprouted!

Hmmmm..... I wonder how an incubator would work as a mini hothouse/greenhouse......

    egg shells for fertilizer

I didn't know that! I wonder if it's the calcium? The bad news is I just remembered a bag of frozen, half rotten shrimp in the freezer- they were supposed to go in the garden this year, and I forgot. :he

What do you wish you had done differently?

Same type of thing here- I injured my hip last winter and still can't get around very well. So DH does the garden and I do the chickens! I would love to have more input in the garden, but he does a very good job so I stay quiet! I did the garden last year, and it's nowhere near as good as his...

Is there a pesticide free way to keep bugs out of the garden?

Does it have to be food grade? I bought a LOT from a garden center last year- and it has turned out to be pool grade! Grrr.... I know I can't use it on chickens, but will it hurt in the garden? Will it kill the good bugs and bees too?

The siding Thread... updated! (Pics 5/24 Finished the Front!!!!)

Wow, happening pretty fast really! And looking very nice! I like the shingling on the front. The new posts do give more of a cottage air to it. Those old columns would be great for an arbor out back- a pergola type structure for shade? Over a patio? I know, why am I making MORE work for...

    How's everyone's potatoes going?

Our "leftover" potatoes are doing great, too. All scattered about! The seed potatoes molded, so DH ended up planting all the sprouted ones I had- which was an embarrassingly large quantity! Need to find a cooler place to store them, our kitchen is always hot. He's added wheat straw twice so...

My Avocado Pipped! Uh, I Mean Sprouted!

Way back in the seventies I had one in a pot that got about 4' tall before I gave it away. When I think it's probably just starting to produce real well..... :he I've 3 more going, one has cracked in two, like this one, and one has cracked into three segments! I don't know if it's going to...

Big and/or weird - The strange veggie thread!

Whoa, it's too early for that! Yikes! If it is a kaffir lime, then it's not for eating anyway. The leaves only are used, often in Thai cooking. :ep

    Mmmm.... Dinner! (Pix)

You sure did! Looks very Mediterranean from here. Now you're a food stylist, too!

    Mmmm.... Dinner! (Pix)

If I am not mistaken, it's illegal or immoral to post food pics like that and not inclede the recipes! I would LOVE to hear more about the pasta and tuna with the delicious peas! (sorry, Zoe, peas are like candy though!)
