    Fertilizer Question

    OK folks, most of us have chickens and a chicken manure compost pile going. When we tilled our garden we added compost and turned it under and my garden is doing great. Will I have to fertilize it again or will the compost last all season? Thanks Laura

    Your favorite way to stake tomatoes?

    I use tobacco sticks and then tie panty hose cut into strips to tie then up. The pantyhose will give since they are so stretchy and it won't cut into the tomato plant. I also sucker my plants, you will get bigger fruit then if you don't.

    Oh, I thought you meant that pine straw would attract bugs. I know that you need to weigh newspaper down and was going to do that with the pine straw. All though we have had some pretty good rains here lately, NC is still in a drought so I was hoping to put some thing down that would slow down...

    Pine Straw as mulch

    Thanks Pat, I am concerned about pest that is why I don't want to use mulch. I might just go to the town newspaper and get a load and put down. We did that year before last and it seemed to work fine.

    Has any one every used pine straw around there veg. plants in the garden. Is it to acidic and will it burn the plants? Thanks in advance

    Processing Peppers

    I just freeze the whole pepper. Wash them really well then put them into freezer bags. When you need one simply hold in under cold water for a few sec. and then they are soft enough to dice .
