    What happened to my tomatoes?

Thanx for the reply. Yes, we are near the end of growing season here in zone 7. We normally have tomatoes ripening right up til the first frost...not me this year. It sure could be blight....and the flies could be fruit flies. All in all, we have a great garden season and I can't fuss about...

    What happened to my tomatoes?

I've lost all my tomato plants and it happened quickly! The leaves started dying off and fruits were marked with ugly brown spots. I noticed when I sprayed water on them that hundreds of "flies" came out of the plants - I first thought they were mosquitoes - Have read about whiteflies...could...

    Freezing raw tomatoes

Have any of you put raw tomatoes in the freezer with skin on? I put 4 quarts in my freezer today in this fashion and am wondering what kind of luck you have had..I know they will only work for soups, stews, and things like that. How long will they keep and do they develop a funny taste over a...

Bush beans? Are they done or having a problem?

Agree - they look like they may have done all they can do. We have Early Contender Bush Beans and they have been heavy producers. I do have a quesion, though - read somewhere that the first one or two pickings are great in flavor, then successive pickings are much less flavorful - don't know...

    Stunted peppers

Thank you for the kind welcome! I might just try the bug spray - I can remember that my mom did just that years ago - I think maybe she used tabasco peppers and garlic for hers. Anyway the jalapenos I gave my son in law he said were very good and most fresh he'd ever had! Our sweet bells are...

Skeeter Time...What to do, what to do!!!!!!!

I agree - Avon's Skin So Soft (Original Scent) is very effective in keeping the skeeters and knats off. I use the body lotion and it works great but understand that the oil works well too.

    Stunted peppers

My jalapeno plants are loaded with peppers but they seem to be just sitting there at about 1 or 1-1/2 inches. I harvested about 8-10 today and gave them to my son-in-law....are the smaller green one REALLY hot and do they get milder as they redden? If they are little fireballs, he won't be...

    Grasshopper invasion!!

Thank ya'll....we have guineas - they are young and just now ready to go out....might consider clipping their wings and putting 1 or 2 into the garden. Actually, the herd dog caught one of them this morning and killed it. We put 6 guineas out into the lot this morning and I guess the dog...
