Guinea hens and turkeys wil also eat them. Turkeys will ignore any other food if grasshoppers are around.

I'm having the same problem.I raised some guineas just for this purpose;but they were raised in the pen with the chickens, think they are chickens, and they won't leave the pen.I take them out at night and roost them in the garden and at dawn they fly back into the chicken pen.Guineas are the most stupid animals on the planet.

You've got tht right. They are so dumb they can't even raise their own young. If they manage to hatch a clutch of eggs they'll just wander off and leave the chicks somewhere. You have to steal their eggs and put them under a hen.

Thank ya'll....we have guineas - they are young and just now ready to go out....might consider clipping their wings and putting 1 or 2 into the garden. Actually, the herd dog caught one of them this morning and killed it. We put 6 guineas out into the lot this morning and I guess the dog perceived them as a threat to the chickens ?? She sure hasn't bothered the 2 roosters that are running out with her.
