Ok, I had to pull up everything today. All my plants were dead and rotting.

I'm going to start my weigh in now. Remember you have until 15 October 2011 to weigh in.

My "fall harvest" with lots of teeny pumpkins:
http://www.theeasygarden.com/forum/...729722_100001337108712_594657_544799246_n.jpg

One very messed up looking pumpkin:
http://www.theeasygarden.com/forum/...396950_100001337108712_594628_268409564_n.jpg

And my "prizewinner" (notice even it didn't escape new chicken pecks between the minute I picked it til I got it inside. Darn shoe changes):
http://www.theeasygarden.com/forum/...729762_100001337108712_594656_545024509_n.jpg

And my not-so-impressive weigh in:

22.8 lbs!

It's one of the most impressive pumpkins I've grown, but much smaller than I imagined.
You've got me beat- my biggest was only 16 lbs.

You got a picture to back that up? ;) There will be "prizes," you know. I'm ordering them tomorrow. And I refuse to be a winner.

There you go, but I'm not proud. It looks more impressive than the weight is... I discovered a bunch of insect damage on the bottom when I picked it up, so I'm assuming that is what is causing the low weight. I've been dreading posting about it because I feel like I should have paid more attention to the ants hanging out around the base. :(

Sorry to hear that, there's always next year! I don't know why everything in my garden was miniature this year, even stuff in the front garden. I had a watermelon smaller than a basketball (and that's not the type I planted) and a canteloupe that fit in my hand.

I'm going to go heavy on the chicken poop for the next month or so until the snow starts.

It looks great, actually, nice job. And I would have ignored the ants, too, who knew they liked pumpkin? I was lucky to not have lost my pumpkin to chickens... well ONE chicken in particular that had a hankering to destroy my "prizewinner."

I'm very impressed that pumpkin survived that hen bite!

Ohhh I would have just loved to enter this if DH weren't so anti-pumpkin.

I did sneak a few golden delicious squash in there, but even those are not very impressive in size.

Next year. I already have a pumpkin list a mile long and he won't have a say!
