I really want to dry some of my green onions and chives. I've never dried those and don't have a clue.

Do I go ahead and plant a couple of rows of carrots down the middle of my tomatoes now or later? I'm going to put in a couple of basil on the ends. I have a few in my lettuce bed that might make carrots before the heat sets in.

I made 2 "global buckets" this weekend and planted two pepper plants in them as my experiment this year. I always do something with buckets every year and have yet to find a good system, lol.

I planted all my herbs; cilantro, parsley, oregano, dill, and rosemary. I have large 24" pots and should contain a lot of herbs for me to dry this year. It's my first time planting anything other than cilantro and basil (which I grew those for the first time last year). I'm going to try to plant something everyday this week after work. It's supposed to be rainy this weekend and I want to get my pepper starts in the ground.

I got my carrots planted with my tomatoes. nothing wrong with that ! Ive got carrots every where including pots. I plant carrot seeds about every three weeks.

I was thinking of lining the edges of my beds with carrots. Especially in the big beds.

that will be good ! I keep my carrots going all summer long all the way to January! Carrots takes a long time to start their seedlings, and takes a long time to harvest carrots ! thats why I like to plant seeds every three weeks so I can have carrots everyday ! :watering

I'll tell you, raised beds are the BEST!! In case you are new to raised beds, IMO the best thing about them is the loose, un-compacted soil. I harvested turnips and beets yesterday, also weeded their beds. Even when you pull out a tender plant with the weed, you can scoop a hole and replant it. Plus the root vegetables pull right out.
Don't get me wrong, sometimes I step in my 8 raised beds. But, I like them SO WELL, that I'm tilling my flower beds now, too.
I like to clean out my horse stalls, starting in November and the wheelbarrow full goes right on top for the next year. I make a couple of ramps in the spring, till this in with last year's soil, and it's ready for immediate planting.
