Before and after photos of my bean gardens at Harwood Nursery which is 1/4 mile from my house.

Harwood Semirunners 6-15-17.jpg
June 15th nothing in the forground but back wher the stakes are in the ground semi runners are emegring from the soil.

Harwood Semirummers #2-7-3-17.jpg
July 1st things are really changing fast. All the semi runners that are going to come up are up and I've planted 4 rows 19 feet long of snap beans in the foreground.

Harwood Snap Beans - 7-3-17.jpg
1st row left is a Blue Jay related bean not named. Two years ago I found one Blue Jay plant that threw out runners but was still tender to eat. Thought I would give it a test this years. 2nd row from the left is a buff colored segregation of an outcross I call Shortwave Sunshine. 3rd row from the left is Billingsgate Segregation #2, and 4th and last row is Provider a productive, popular commerical snap bean of the 1960's.

Candy - 7-3-17.jpg

Among the semi runners is one of my original beans from the early 1980's called Candy.

At Harwood Nursery in a shared plot with my neighbor I planted pole beans. Click on any of these photos and you can really zoom in closer as my camera is set for large photos.

Harwood Pole Beans 6-15-17.jpg

June 15th most of the pole beans are emeging from the soil. Rabbits in this part of the Nursery grounds is a problem for some reason. I had replanted a couple of the beans three times.

Harwood Pole Beans 7-3-17.jpg

July 3rd photo. So on about June 27th I erected my white plastic lattice panels into a fence around the pole beans. I got tired of the rabbits attacking my pole beans. You can also see that I'm nearly finished mulching the pole beans with grass clippings that I mow with my 21 inch wide mower with a bag attachment on the surrounding grounds of the former Nursery. I used to erect this white platic lattice panels around my backyard bean beds before I had my backyard fenced.

Bubble Gum 7-3-17.jpg

Here is Tricia77's Bumble Gum beans growing in the pole bean plot. July 3rd photo.

Will put up more photos of all these again about the 1st of August.

I planted two 25 foot rows of Pixie, one of the outcrosses I grew for you last year. I'm going to select the best from them to save again. They were a very good stringless snap bean.

Russ, you mentioned a Blue Jay related you are growing out. Thought I'd update the solid Blue Jay I'm growing out. Remember I found some solid seed sin what I harvested last year.

RBJ1 2 Growth.JPG

Those 3 in the middle on this 12' high trellis are from two Solid Blue Jay I planted here. I was expecting them to be bush but at 12 feet they've passed semi-runner status.

RBJ2 Bloom.JPG

One of them is blooming but I haven't seen any pods set on yet. I took a bloom from my production Blue Jay for a side by side comparison. They were exactly the same shade. The wait is on to see what kind of bean I harvest from these.

Hi @Ridgerunner,

Yes will be interesting to see if your 12 long Blue Jay related beans make nice snap beans. In 2012 I did plant an entire row of Blue Jay right next to an entire row of pole beans. Plenty of opportunities for crossing there. 20 foot long rows. My backyard Blue Jay planting of 9 plants all still looking like bush types and the Blue Jay related ones are too young to start growing runners if that is what they are going to do. Heck 12 feet high. Your beans have even passed the half runner status and I would say are full fledged pole beans.
