Annette,
I contacted Lisa at Amishland Seeds about the Breck’s Italian beans. She did get back to me and said they are still available. I ordered two packs, so hopefully they will arrive safely. Fingers crossed!

I am new on this forum, I have been gardening for 49 years and live in the PNW (Pacific Northwest). I grow lots of vegetables but my favorite are beans, for variety, ease of growth, and taste. I became interested in Rice beans from posts on the Gardenweb (Houzz) Legume forum and recently the photos and articles on BlueJay77's Bean Collector website. I just received an order from Azure Dandelion for 4 kinds of Rice beans, Brown, Black, and White rice bush beans and Little White Ice pole rice beans. I am excited to grow them next year.

"Vermont Appaloosa" A true bush with out runners. This a small slender seed with slender pods like "Magpie". I bought it in 2011 from a seed business the was selling the seeds on Ebay called Azure Dandelion. The photo is my entire seed crop of this bean and off type 5 dark seeds all togehter in one small bunch.

Different kind of rice beans. What I work with is this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vigna_umbellata. Theyre closer related to azuki beans that common beans (which is what I think is being discussed, there are several kinds of small common bean called rice beans.)

Incidentally, I took in my pathetic little harvest of 9 rice bean seeds (2 pods) this morning. Plain red, alas (at least I think they are, faint mottling sometimes doesn't show up until they dry)

Hi and welcome from Vancouver Island Beanfan :).

I'll be interested to see how the Little White Ice pole bean you bought from Azure grows for you, I bought these from them too and they turned out NOT to be a pole bean. I have never grown any of the true rice beans so will be interested in how they do for you as we have similar climates.

Hello and Welcome Beanfan from Woodstock, Illinois. I've got Brown Rice but when I've tried growing them I get the wrong weather for good germination. I've never gotten a good crop of them yet. One day I'll hit that magic combination. I do have lots of seed of a rice bean called Comtesse de Chambord. A very slender poded snap bean. Also a very rice sized bean called Falcon with a brown figure around the eye. Falcon also has very slender pods. You want some of them. I'll send some if you like.
