I finally decided I would have enough time to grow some beans this year. While I am not growing anything for the network, some of these seeds needed to be renewed or grown for the first time.

Chinese Long Beans:
Jim Su - very old seed. I have a few pounds of it saved across many years.
Red Noodle - Last grown about 5 years ago. Several came up white.

Cowpeas:
Ozark Razorback
Iberia brand blackeyed pea - Got these in the store in 2015, but didn't grow out. coat and eye color looked different from what I'm used to.
Unknown brown crowder - volunteers come up in the garden every year.

Lima Beans:
Aunt Violet's Speckled Lima - saved a couple of pounds of seed in 2015.
Jackson Wonder - heavily crossed up seed, but interesting to grow out.

Pole Beans:
Headrick Greasy Cutshort
Rattlesnake
Brown Seeded Kentucky Wonder

All of them are up and growing and, aside from four I crushed while putting up fencing tonight, are all doing well.

This is on my Miss T #6 plant. It seems about everywhere I get blooms I get a yellow next to a blush pink/white bloom. They seem to be mostly in pairs, a yellow with a pink. Does this happen often where you get two distinctly different colors of flowers on the same plant?

This forum just won't behave this morning. I'm having problems putting two different photos in the same post. Anyway, it appears both the yellow and the blush/white flowers are making pods.

I'v been growing beans for time measured in decades rather than years but it never occurred to me that I could grow just a few of several kinds to make it more fun. You really only need a few, specially of pole beans to see how you like em and how they do.

I always thought you had to grow a minimum of a ten foot row of any particular kind, old habits do die hard I suppose. I end up with seeds getting very old and often never finding out what my crosses would turn in to. I'm gonna dig deep in the seed freezer next year!

Yep, happens very often! If you take a close look you'll see that nearly all beans have flowers that change color as they age. So for example it's pretty common that the buds and young flowers may be yellow, the fully-open flowers white, and the old, shriveling flowers pink. I tried to be really assiduous about photo documentation in my bean patch last year and noticed this in nearly every variety.

That would explain some of my troubles last year in trying to keep the flowers straight. I had several that were "supposed" to be bush but actually grew pole, you get that with the outcrosses, so I had them planted too close together. I couldn't keep them separated, that's a lesson I learned for this year. I should be able to keep close track this year and see it for myself. Thanks.

These are all the beans I planted this year. A fun list to look through. Will have photos of their seeds after harvest in the autumn. Approximately 224 of them. About 15 them never came up. Will try those again next year. Number of plants that came up in these beans are anywhere from One to as many as 20.
