no planting today as i'd hoped, but in good news i have more fence space, but the dilemma is that planting beans that grow on that fence may attract critters who will then want to explore around the other sides.

i don't have extra fencing to put up a line up inside the other fence, but that would be the best solution....

last year i had beans in the same garden but they were heavily shaded by the tomatoes that were next to them.

can't put up other runs of fencing until the lilacs and honeysuckles are done blooming (severely allergic to them). hopefully will get 200ft of 6ft fence picked up this week along with poles and that will cut down on deer/rabbit/etc. traffic a great deal once i can get it in place.

@aftermidnight and @Bluejay77 checked the beans that are up and only Purple Dove has red veining.

@aftermidnight, Yes I've seen reddish veining in some beans. Can't remember which ones. I don't think there are a huge number of varieties that have red veining. It's does exist though. Will have to stark keeping notes on varieties everytime I run into red veining in them.

I really love the veining in purple podded beans. It's really strinking against the green leaves.

Ok will put a note on my spreadsheet under puple dove that it has red veining. Is that both stems and leaves? Thank you for that info. Now Robert Lobitz had a number of beans that share that same seed coat color and pattern. Purple Diamond, Purple Rain, Purple Rose, Purple Rose Creek. Wonder if those beans also might have that characteristic. Blooming Prairie is another one. I grew it last year but don't remember if that bean has red veining in it.

@Tricia77,

Plentiful planting of beans. Wishing you a very successful grow out.
Are all those varieties on your Flickr photos?
I believe most of them are in my Flickr album. The list might become smaller as I plant. I had trouble choosing from my long list, so I may have over did it with my grow list ;)

I still need to pick my lima varieties. That will be another tough choice.
