i don't want the old threads removed as they do contain a lot of good information and pictures that likely can't be found any place else. however you could ask the moderators to freeze the threads (i think) so no new posts can be made to them. myself i think any contribution to the pasts threads will still be interesting if someone has something useful to say so i would not want them frozen, but i would also like to see posts moved to the most recent thread if they are not relevant to the old threads at all and clearly won't hurt anyone in the doing.

it doesn't look like @JosephSimcox is actually here to converse, but perhaps he will come back and see the mentions in this thread and say hello again. :)

I wouldn't want the old threads removed either, but I wouldn't mind their titles to go to unbolded text when the new year arrives so you could tell the difference from the more current threads and older ones. I think it's good to have new threads with a new year, as the old ones can get so very long to wade through especially when you are looking for something in one of them.

I sometimes use the older threads as reference looking for things someone has said about a bean variety. Annette Barley was a wealth of information about varieties she had discovered and decided to keep in her collection. She passed some of her beans on to me.

You can ask @Nifty or an administrator to lock a thread. Basically make it read only. You can chat with them about automatically giving the option of read only or refer to the new thread if someone opens that thread, don't have a clue if they could do that. But that reference would need to change every year.

Thought I'd post this photo to show how far along a few of mine are. There is an advantage to be able to plant the first of March. This is from Jas, a pole bean. I have a few bush beans this far along but those are hidden, harder to photo.

That would be neat to make the 2019 thread a read only, but would still be able to get into it but not post on it. The others are so far down the pages that I don't think anyone would really write on them. Thanks Ridge I will check into that.

i think asking them to be frozen would be ok.

if anyone needs to ask a question they can just post a link to an old post in a more recent thread. :)

Hi Bean Lovers! I hope everyone is well. These are the varieties I will be growing for Russ this year...
Hemelvaartboontje
Mr. Tung
O’Driscoll
Mrs. Keeny’s Pink
Rosa’s Bean
Scarlet Beauty
Tjana Special
I am also going to grow some of the varieties Annette grew in past years, like Emilia’s Italian and Uzice Speckled. Has anyone had contact with her husband to see how she is doing? I’m also trying to find someone that may have Polish Freidank or John’s Polish Purple that she may have shared with you. If you do I would be willing to trade from my large bean collection.

Hello! I'm Amy and this is my first year participating in the bean network. I live in northeast Ohio, zone 6a.

I'll be growing two varieties (both arrived safely yesterday @Bluejay77):

Hemelvaartboontje
Pale Grey Lavender

I've been reading through all the previous year's threads, and I'm excited to participate this year!
