You can already get heated sweaters, to keep the winter rodent population down... they're called cats. ;)

the kitties out there are not doing their job and they can't get down in those tight spaces between and under rocks or those burrows.

we haven't had any fresh snows lately where i can see new tracks from the mice, but i've caught five mice out there since i found the mouse nest in the crawlspace entrance. no new nest building in there though, so the mice i've caught since removing the nest a probably just scouts looking for new territories. it's not much fun removing a very frozen mouse from a snap wire trap, but it has to be done. i set them out back near the ditch hoping the kitties will find them.

the other night i heard an owl and hoped it was getting mice from our yard. also saw a beautiful redtail hawk with the sun hitting it from the side. good predators to have around in the web of life.

These are the last common beans I have grown in 2021.

Teaching Drum # 27 - bush

Jack In The Beanstalk - pole. I sent 30 of the prettiest seeds to @Bluejay77 . These are smaller than they should be, but nicely shaped. I will sow them this year and hope to be able to return the rest of the seeds.

Slut - pole. One of the best-yielding beans in 2021.

Mother Earth - pole. That's my entire crop from 6 plants that were also almost completely dug up by moles. This year will be better. For sure :)

I just joined SSE in December and have not received mine either. Their website says that they are experiencing "high order volume" and are 1.5-2 weeks behind in sending out orders. Maybe they are overwhelmed at the moment?
On the SSE webpage where we order the 2022 yearbook it stated "check back mid january" i wasnt sure if they had clarified on that statement or not.

Soooo... any new acquisitions? 😁
Yup! I requested 'La Vigneronne' and 'Rouge von Paris' :D The strange thing is the person listing it says it comes from Baker Creek Seeds, but I can't find any reference anywhere for that bean. A photo on pinterest comes up with a connection to Baker Creek but I don't see that anywhere else. I guess I'll have to wait for the beans to arrive to really know more about them. I also found a listing for Indian Woman Yellow, White Cloud Cannellini, Whipple, Pois-Feves La Liberte, and Gaucho so I snapped them up. You might like Gaucho @meadow, it looks like Swedish Brown! I got Sultan's Golden Crescent as well. All beans I know NOTHING about, so it'll be neat to see what they look like.

Ah! Sounds like a good haul!

Did a little sleuthing: Knowing that Joseph Simcox (aka 'the botanical explorer') only mentions one expedition to France, which was in 2010, and he gave @Bluejay77 his Haricot Tarbais in 2013... and Baker Creek began selling Haricot Tarbais (and bunches of other beans) in 2013*... I checked Baker Creek via the Wayback Machine for 2013. No go.

However, Rouge von Paris was sold by Baker Creek in 2016.

I checked 2013, 2016, then back to 2015 to see when Rouge von Paris first appears. It wasn't there in 2015 and I didn't look any further. I didn't see La Vigneronne in those years, but only looked at common beans.

*I bought Haricot Tarbais in 2017 and it was absolutely delicious when I finally got around to growing it in 2020, which is why I was so keen to save seed from the remaining 2017 seed in 2021. Haricot Tarbais was my Gateway Drug Bean. 😎

THANK YOU @meadow !

:bow

You are an excellent detective because I could not find anything! Wow!

Now, having read the link, I wonder what other 'aliases' it goes by? I wonder if Piros Feher is one of them? They look a little similar.
It's very pretty. I wouldn't be surprised if @Artorius or Bluejay know of it, perhaps by one of the aliases.
