Ahhhh Great News ! Now do you have good enough weather to grow those beautiful beans? I know you have had lots of rain in the PNW. My large pole bean plot rotted out again this time from not enough sun and frequent cool rains the last two weeks. I need to get our there today and plant them all again.
That is so unfortunate @Bluejay77 , I'm happy for you though that you have the length of season which allows for a replant at this point in the year. Here, planting past the first few days in June, the beans would not be able to mature. I guess everybody seems to be getting lots of rain. It has really slowed down for us though and the temps are definitely increasing. It was almost 30 C/ 86F today. My little duck pond has nearly dried up. For us, anything above the mid-twenties makes us melt.

I didn't want to risk a direct seeding. Hopefully the weather will have settled by the time they are ready to go out.
Given the ups and downs with the weather, this is wise @meadow; if I had direct seeded all my beans I'd be swimming in a puddle of tears right now. Transplants saved me! It's those darn first 6 inches that are the most tricky with beans. Makes me realise that when I had tomato mania I was spoiled! Those plants survive everything, and they grow for 8 weeks indoors first!

Still hoping to get a few beans in this year. The weather, and coming down with Covid last week, aren't making that easy. I finally feel well enough to start some things in pots, so that I can hopefully get at least a little seed in the time remaining.
I'm so sorry to hear this @Zeedman . Sending prayers of healing for you. 🙏

i did get the last garden inside the fence planted this morning. tomorrow i may be able to get a few hours in cleaning up the last garden if i go out early. the rest of the day will be too hot to do much outside and later in the afternoon is garden club meeting at the library so that will be what happens anyways. watering to keep the seedlings happy is first priority in the morning and may do another spray mid-day to keep them damp.

i planted some Large Olive, RC-SB-Dark (the darkest purple and strangest colored beans of the Santa Beans), Tan Goats Eye, Galopka and Venda, since the Tan Goats Eye beans were pretty and some of the other beans are unknowns i also scattered Purple Dove in all plantings just to make sure i had something growing if those seeds don't grow. i may have to come back in a week or two and poke more seeds in for later on season fresh beans.

I really like the sound of the name 'Galopka'. Something about it.

That is so unfortunate @Bluejay77 , I'm happy for you though that you have the length of season which allows for a replant at this point in the year.
Last year I had this diaster of most of the pole bean seed just cooking in the ground under hot dry conditions. March through May gave us hardly any rain. I couldn't seem to water the bean plantings enough. Some on this thread urged me to plant again and I didn't. Some of the beans did come up late and produced a seed crop. The Limas just barely made it last year and only got a scant number of seed out of them. So I'm not completely sure I have a long enough season in replanting the pole beans at this date of June 15th, but I guess I'm going to find out. I will replant them today and water them. My only concern would be the lima varieties.

good luck @Bluejay77 !

it was pretty brutal out there this morning, i got about halfway in the garden cleanup and that was it for me. 9:30am and too hot and humid for me already. gave up and came inside to hide from the day. if we get some rain tonight that would be nice the ground is pretty hard out there.

also i brought in my potted beans because it is supposed to get so hot and those Fort Portal Jade plants just may not like being cooked in those black pots. the other beans in the pots are all now sprouted and growing. a few windy hot days the leaves of some of the plants looked pretty ragged but after watering them and the next few leaves grew in ok.

what i'm wondering about though is if i keep them inside for the really hot days if they'll get enough light to flower and have any pods? i don't know the minimum requirement for light for beans indooors. anyone have any ideas? my window in this room faces ENE and i get some light in the morning and up until about 10:30-11:00am.
