well, i did get the hardest part done for bean planting today. figuring out which beans i was planting and how i was going to manage it. :) arranging the beans so that similarly looking beans are surrounded by beans that don't look like them and also making sure that none of those other beans also don't look alike.

sprinkling and a bit of rain for the moment, which is good, all the gardens can use the water, in a few more minutes i should be able to get out and plant this garden:

- Andikove
- Atwater
- Black Coco (selection)
- Blooming Prairie
- Chaska Purple
- Dapple Pink
- Darker Red (temporary name for a Red Ryder outcross)
- Delano
- Fukuryu Chunaga
- Koronis Three Islands
- Matte Finish Red (temporary name for a Red Ryder outcross)
- Montville
- Purple Rose Creek
- Shelleasy x Soldier
- Spotted Pheasant
- Striped Bunch
- Temporary Name #1 (maybe Sunset or is a golden brown bean)
- Temporary Name #2 (red white 1st or 2nd growout)

ok, time to get moving, can get this one done. :)

I was curious about that bean too @BeanieQueen , looks a little like 'Wild Gonny'. But if it's a North American bean I'd guess 'Berta Telaska', 'Jesse Fisk', maybe 'Iroquois Cornbread'....

I'm growing Ugandan Bantu this year, so if I succeed I can send you some in the fall. Can you receive a package of bean seed from Canada? The purples in that mix are fabulous, just fabulous.
Yes, Wild Gonny seems to be not such a bad guess. I grow them myself this year for the first time, but the seed I got looked not so dark red, much more purplish and taller.
About Jesse Fisk I am not so sure. On the photo of bohnen-atlas.de those rather look like Horsehead or the like.
What do you think of Rote Beerbohne (now: Root Beer bean) :D ? Or are they smaller?

Ugandan Bantu:
Thank you so much for your kind offer! If you ever should harvest enough (this or some other season) and want to trouble yourself with shipping etc. I would be really happy about it! As far as I know German regulations are not as rigid as the US american's.
But for the moment I wish you a successful and joyful bean season in the first place! Then we will see..

Candy:
I do grow them as well this year. I will also duely report for what size/height they finally decided. A the moment they are in wk 12 and look like an ordinary compact bush yet.

PS. I also noted that sometimes people and also shops just seem to write anything in their seed descriptions, just to have some text there..
For instance, I acquired Tuvagliedda Nera and the description said: these are so powerful plants and fast growers and one mustn't plant more than two seeds per pole at the most. Reality: after nearly three months they are still so delicate and tiny compared to others - I already regret the precious pole place I gave them. I am sure they would also be satisfied with a toothpick or something!!

halfway done, taking a break and letting the drizzle/rains go by. it was nice to work when it was cooler and less humid but i got dumped on with pollen from the white pine tree and i decided to take a break for a bit and let my lungs calm down.

@BeanieQueen They look very much the same in size, though I think Rotebeerbohne 🍻 I have is coloured differently. It looked to me like a base of lightish pink with an overlay of bluish/brownish dark coloured streaks. It was even more dramatic & gorgeous that I expected.

You have beans that are 12 weeks old? When does your season start, long ago?

I agree about descriptions of beans being fanciful. I ordered some 'Early Pinkies' from SSS last year and, once they matured, I thought where's the pink? I thought the seeds I was planting might have been older so I didn't judge the colour. They were like a rusty orange colour with burgundy streaks.

Have you grown Bamberger Blaue? Gosh, that is one of my favourite bush beans for wonderful colouring.

My, my, my....13 C/55.4 F today combined with two days of rain, starting last night & ending tomorrow afternoon. Thankfully the rains are not heavy. I can only hope that the beans put in as seeds had already begun to germinate and so will weather this period better. Ugh, vagaries of weather like this are a giant pain in the rear. I don't know what is worse for them at this stage, blazing heat at 30C/86F or this. Both bad I think.
