🎶 ROLL THAT BEAUTIFUL BEAN FOOTAGE! 🎶 🙂

#1 Flossie Powell Lima. (Purchased)
This one grew wonderfully well! I have spread this bean far and wide to others who will grow it.
I had about 6 seeds that presented with only black speckles and no brown. You can see those in the front of the picture.

This bean performed beautifully and prolifically! This is another one that I've sent samples to about 10 other gardeners.
Some of these were very dark so I've separated them. Any ideas why they're different?

This bean grew really well but I was in Michigan and Canada while it rained excessively at home. Unfortunately, most of these sprouted in their pods. These were the ones that I salvaged. Trying again next year.

#4 Ping Zebra Lima (Bonus)
These are the ones left after sharing them with other gardeners. The 3 on the right were the original bean seeds. Mine are exactly the same except for, ever so slightly, bigger.

This bean is gorgeous, but my grow outs were not at all like the originals. I'd consider this one a fail. 🥺 I will try again this coming year, but I'm not too hopeful to get grow outs like the original beans that are shown in the top left of the picture. I'm so sorry, but I'm not sure what changed them. Anybody?

You got the dark bean from Andromeda there was probably one plant that was still not stable in your grow out. Just keep selecting the beans that look like Andromeda. I really thought from what I saw in my grow outs that the bean was completely stable. When they segregate like that and you that darker color that was a plant that made some new gene combinations the season before. That probably happened here.

Your soil could have caused a difference in color. I have beans that even the pattern changes when I change the location where the variety is grown. I have run into 5 different soil types within the county where I live. Some beans are more sensitive to change in soil type.

the only ones i would consider different enough to not replant them would be the ones in the lower left corner of your picture. the rest i would consider normal within variations i have seen in similar beans (one called Money i've grown has looked like those).

I have actually seen, and loved, the Money bean on the bean pages. It has such a pretty coloring. 🙂
