Bit by bit, we get bit by the bit, while they hold the reins. Neigh... whinny...

Postage increases here are twice a year now... and heavily focused on packages. :( What the govt fails to understand is that...

... the faster they increase their rates

............ the faster people will look for alternatives to mail

..................... the faster they will lose business

............................. the more they will need to increase their rates to sustain their workforce

It's a downward spiral, and unsustainable. The PO is trying to sustain itself by heavily 'taxing' internet business; those of us who frequently mail small packages are just collateral damage. Bubble mailers used to be classified as envelopes; now they try to classify them as packages, at a much higher rate. Sometimes PO counter employees will literally make up explanations for doing this, and having once worked for the PO, I have to quote their own rules to them.
I don't know the mail carrier situation in the US, but here the general public consensus here is that they are way overpaid. WAY overpaid. And the agitation for increases and benefits never seems to end. The last prime minister tried to rid us of this system, but his term ran out before he could execute the purge. Because they are paid per route, not hour, it's a fact many carriers rush the shift and sit at the local watering hole for part of the day. Paid to sit down. Whole thing needs to be privatized, forced into the free market and face competition. This state controlled monopoly is just a major gauging job on the taxpayer. Realistically though, of all Canada's enormous problems this one is miniscule in comparison.

what i would really wish they would do is increase the cost of junkmail enough to cover the expenses of dealing with it all.
YES a very BIG YES ! Too much junk mail coming and for those who put it out cheap. I didn't mean to complain about the next postal increase coming 1-19-25. I can't mail package cheaper by any of the shipping companies. The postal rates a way, way cheaper than UPS, FedEx and the rest of them.

Less pretty but cherished nonetheless - Phenotype #1 from my project with segregating 'Frye's Golden Goose' offtypes

Phenotype #6B and #6W from FGG project. Started off as a single brown seed; in 2023 a single white-seeded variant occured. It stayed true this year. These are both colours together.
