@heirloomgal,

Finally today I thought it was a long time since you sent your package to the Linden, New Jersey inspection station. So I decided to call them. They tell me the area in the plant where they keep packages that are ready to be forwarded is empty. I'm suspecting that they have sent your package out sometime ago. They told me that your Canada Post tracking number should still be good to track a package here. So I'm going to go to my post office and see if they can find out what happened to your package. Hope they can find this package with your tracking number.
I really really hope you can find it too Russ, this is so worrying. I checked the tracking number and it seems like after it got to Linden, the tracking didn't continue. Because the destination was the inspection station and you can only fill in one destination for it to be tracked to, I'll be surprised if there is any further record. They'd have to fill out a new tracking form to adjust it to your address. All these times I sent the box with tracking and didn't realize that it isn't actually tracked to your destination but only to New Jersey! It has always gotten to you successfully though so I didn't think too deeply about it. I don't understand what the problem could have been? I sent those beans exactly like every other time before? Counted them out the same way. You'd think if they failed inspection somehow they would have let you know? I am so sorry Russ, that is a lot of beans in there. Usually the 1st box arrives about a week after the 2nd box arrives, so this is really late compared to the other shipments. Praying for a miracle with this. 🙏

@Blue-Jay, @flowerbug you found a great topic for conversation. I should be more worried because war is approaching my country with great strides. Especially after recent events. I'm a reserve infantry NCO of mobilization age, so if anything, I will have a shorter way to death than you. Maybe I should start thinking about what to do with my seeds 🤔

your description was good enough so that no link was needed. thank you. :)

i'd be happy to grow all of them that are bush beans just to get those traits in my own beans. the more the merry...

i'd also be willing to grow them even if they are not bush beans since i can eventually get them to cross and then select further to get back to bush or semi-runner habit, but that takes more time and i'm getting older and also since i cannot do direct crosses myself and have to rely upon nature and chance that also adds more time to the process.

as for limit to new beans i know that feeling! :) i am hoping to eventually get a dedicate freezer set up so i don't have to worry about longevity and renewal so much and as a part of that i'll also transition to a less space consuming method of packaging compared to what i'm currently doing. i don't know when this will happen, but i can daydream. :) :) :)
I have similar goals for a dedicated freezer, Flowerbug!

Oh flowerbug I met you at the Central Michigan Seed Swap a little while back and you are so old. LOL🤣. I just turned 79 this past December. Speaking of age. Seriously would anyone like to be put in my will and inherit a sample or maybe more of every single bean in my collection someday when I'm gone. I hope that gone date is way far ahead of me yet. I have my sights set on a 100. I would like to see the entire collection survive and be stewarded. I have one person in my will now but I would like to break up the entire volume of beans among mabye six or more growers.
Personally, I'm not ready to face the idea of the bean saving community not having you in it @Blue-Jay. My preference is to believe you'll live forever. Not willing to accept you disappearing either @Artorius. Everyone just stay put.

I had another thought about this box situation @Blue-Jay . I sent some beans to a lady in the PNW (Washington) in January, a very small little envelope really. Her & I both assumed that it never made it across because 3 weeks passed and nothing. And then, right on the 32 day mark she got it. Why it took 32 days I have no idea. I sent a parcel into Maryland a few weeks ago, and that took a week. Again a mystery how one took so long, the other so fast. Maybe certain postal channels are clogged up for some reason? Did you find anything out at the post office?

@heirloomgal , from my experience I know that the operation of the Post as an institution is one Great Mystery, regardless of the country in which operates. And I really don't know what I can smoke or take to understand this Great Mystery.:)

By the way, sorry about my previous post. I guess I was too moved by the world news I had read earlier. I shouldn't have done that on a gardening forum.
