The BlueLake beans (all 4 twenty foot rows) are producing their 2nd flush of beans. The weather has cooled and we got a bit of moisture (not enough really). DH and DIL picked last night. I snapped a gallon ziplock full. I think DIL took home twice that! And there are more to come. They are so much better then the 1st batch. :) Not tough at all and seem less stringy. Yummy. Now to find ways to preserve them. WAY too many to eat fresh. :D

Congrats Carol!! on a great harvest ;)
Keep those beans picked and they'll keep producing until frost that is. You could freeze them in plastic bags or pickle them in canning jars, I've never canned beans before but know people do can them.

If you have any problems with red spider mites in your pole beans during late summer -- remember, a cold blast of water is a mite's worse nightmare!

I have no doubt that actually killing them with water is unlikely but if you can dislodge them from the plant, they are so tiny it would take 2 mite lifetimes to walk all the way back to their previous home!

;)
