I remember reading The Little Prince at what might have been the best age for it to have a strong impression.

It was surprising to me that it seemed to be a book for children but rather critical of adults.

The apparent death of the prince in such a book was also a surprise and that it could be accepted as okay, even more so.

“Breathe, darling. This is just a chapter. It’s not your whole story.” ― S.C. Lourie

this reminds me... :) when we were kids my sister would hold her breath until she turned purple and so Mom was worried and the doc told her not to worry because if she held her breath long enough to pass out then she'd start breathing again.

things were and are fine once my sister grew up and Mom no longer could try to control her.

as the breathing thing goes, if you do manage to figure out how to hold your breath too long it could be the end of the story. and no, i'm not suggesting that to anyone. i like stories...

i'm pretty sure that this doc is not the same one that we had when i was a baby who told Mom to put me out in the snow when i was having breathing troubles due to allergic reactions to lilacs (that worked too), and it was probably yet another one who told her to ignore me hiding in the cupboards after we moved. he said i'd come out eventually when i was ready. either way they were all right. older guys who'd been around long enough to know what worked and what was wise and to not react to instant panic and fears but to give things a moment to sort themselves out (moment being defined as either a few minutes or a few days, weeks or even months)...
