Garden Master
Every veggie that might have been picked this week came home after another trip to the garden. When I saw that it was only 64 at 4pm, I lost confidence in the weather and the sprinklers.
It actually isn't supposed to freeze according to the Weather Service but they had the same forecast for this morning and it froze. The sprinklers really did keep things alive but the frost only lingered about an hour. If it had been much colder or cold for a couple, 3 hours - the ice would have built up on the plants rather than being washed away.
It sucks the moisture out of them. If the soil is dry, even frost-hardy plants may die quickly in a frost. My gardens are almost soggy right now but I'll turn the sprinklers on again tomorrow if it is freezing during the final hour before sunrise. It looks like things may really get out of hand UNLESS the Weather Service is no more wrong than they were this morning! I would kiss them if they have it dead on and this time, it doesn't freeze.
