and 40 nights of rain, or so it seems to the South. According to the weather map, all of Texas is getting some sort of wet. Stay safe, all of you!
Our forecasters are predicting rain for us, but it's pretty much hit here and miss there for the past week. Last night we finally got something that did more than dampen the dust.
We lost power. Evidently I was the only customer who called to report the outage 'cuz the lady on the phone started discussing my costs if they came out. What! So Spouse and I went for a drive. Less than half a mile away we spotted downed power lines laying in the intersection. Having done their work for them, I called the location in, although, it still took another 3 hours for power to be restored.
This morning we saw trees down all along the next mile of road. Straight line winds had blown through and toppled over a dozen trees or large branches. Our yard had only a few leaves down so we really were lucky this time. My BFF1 wasn't as lucky. She lost several large branches off 50 year old walnuts and two trees completely down -- one roots and all.
She was feeding the fish when the storm started and ran to the house in horizontal rain and wind. The straight line winds passed directly through her land. Sheesh!
