It was a bad garden season (2008) for me also.
By the time that I had gotten the cast off of my right arm, the "hayfield" we live on had reclaimed my flower beds. We'd been in a drought the last year or so and the red clay was worse than concrete so there was no digging the huge clumps of grass from the beds so I just didn't mess with any of it.
On a brighter note, we've had soooo much rain this winter that as soon as it dries up (as in dry enough that I'm not floating through the yard), I'll be able to tackle the "hay clumps" with the garden fork and hopefully get the beds back in control and looking like someone cares.
