A "different" Squash for Me & You

The seed catalogs show them as dark green, Journey. I'm not sure how to account for the different coloring on 2 of them other than to say that I almost lost track of them because the RockStar and Big Doris pumpkins went nutz. I tended to stay out of the pumpkin patch thru the summer.

The photograph is a little misleading.

The one in front is only 5#. The one in back, with the darker color, is 12#.

We cut up the green Marina De Chioggia squash, deciding that it really was immature. This was after I realized that the "blotchy" one had changed completely to "tan" and that might really be the color of a mature Marina De Chioggia squash, catalog picture or no catalog picture :/.

The cut up one was about what I expected from an immature winter squash . . .

I'll post the next "chapter" of my squash/pumpkin dilemma under that "Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the garden" topic.
