We had lots of snow, more constantly covering the ground. I don't know if even as a kid I remember it being on and staying on so long. But our temps barely went below the teens, so ultimately I think it will have a more positive effect on things for us this year. My trees are budding and look fine, don't think I've lost anything. It will hopefully make for a slamming morel hunting season. The ol' timers say that they need a good snow pack to break down the leaves on the forest floor and do better on that. (Plus all the precipitation we've had.) I hope so! ~15 more days and I'll be out there! :weee

journey - I'm so jealous that you go morel hunting. I've always wanted to learn, but people are pretty close-mouthed about where their spots are.

I know our February was the snowiest on record, but March hasn't been too bad. Usually we get some warm days & then some very cold days. Other than a dusting of snow we got a few weeks ago, it's been pretty 'normal' for March, whatever that means. Dec & Jan were much snowier than usual, but not too much colder. Usually we get a few weeks of single digits, but not this year.

Hey Kate, I've heard you've got one of the best states for morels... Yeah, it was upon the threat of pain of death my FIL showed me his patch! LOL I go on www.morelmania.com and they keep a record of "sightings" by state so you can know when to start looking. Usually I will start dreaming about morels coming out of the woodwork this time of year, but since this is my first year with honey bees, my anticipation has taken over there and I've been dreaming about them mostly. :happy_flower But I am really hoping to have a good year this year of hunting morels. Since I had my daughter, it's been almost 3 years since I've gotten to go and the couple times I did last year, I didn't find anything! :p
