It's summer this week in north Idyho, and my flowers are suddenly opening up!

If you'll ignore the untidyness we'll both be happier, because that's obviously what I've been doing.
But if I waited to share pictures until I had worked it over...well, it wouldn't be happening anytime soon!

So here we go, weeds and all -

The front bed, the golden yellow flower is my trollius that I thought had died, but it was just buried a few years by the Ladysmantle and peony.

Oh, I LOVE it thistlebloom! It looks so "cottagey" just what I like. You have sooooo much space in the back, I wish I had it! I love those clematis's. I was finally able to keep one in a pot for the second year. A record for me.

Looks like you're going to have lots of bee balm, thistlebloom. Love the clematis, too. What kind of big tree is that in your yard with the hostas? I don't think I've ever seen trollius before; is it a herbaceous perennial or a bulb or tuber?

The tree is a douglas fir, and trollius is an herbaceous perennial. It was planted about seven years ago when the bed was new, and not so cluttered, then it didn't come back ( I thought ). When I did some serious dividing of that darn ladysmantle it showed up again. I love it, and am going to do a lot of rearranging this fall so it has a better spot.

Everything looks lovely! I just love the curved edges of your borders. You gardens are looking lush and green- my bee balm is dried up already...Clematis are my favorite too! So showy!

My grandmother used to call it Idyho, Thistle'. Over 100 years ago, she grew up in Palouse but she was on the east side of that little town and on the Idaho side of the border. So close, they walked to the store but crossed a state boundary to do it ;).

When I wanted a clematis for the yard, I was convinced that the limited number of clematis that I see when out & about meant that anything other than a Jackmanii wouldn't survive the winters. The few that were not purple seemed to suggest that those non-Jackmanii's were not sufficiently hardy to last more than a few years. Was I wrong about that?

That raspberry-red is sure pretty!
