Generator to a dryer plug ~ in not much different ~ than ~ running a generator ~ through a Cable ~ to a Transfer Box ~ if your wire was big enough ~ it's fine ~ as more service is added ~ the line will be larger ga ```

I've worked as an electrician ~ for wages and lead for electricians, mechanic, plumbers and support services ~ the way you're working your kitchen ~ and all your repair and new work ~ is exactly right ```

You're taking ~ one thing at a time ~ deciding the best method ~ and do it ```

You must be out of the hurricane zone.
At our old house the local substation had massive problems and the power would go out a lot specially in the winter. They did a rehab on it the year before we moved which helped a great deal.

we are about 3.5 hrs from the coast so if there's a hurricane we just some wind and lots of rain.... we live around 5 miles <as the crows fly> from the power station at belews creek. not to get off subject but was able to tour the plant years ago, that was awesome...
anyway duke power has been updating all the sub-stations, replacing power poles, trimming back trees along their lines around our area..

we had a "mild winter" no big ice storms so we were lucky this winter... knock on wood...

Yes it not dangerous for people who have a working knowledge of what you doing. If you don’t you could be holding on to a plug end that has 240v and plenty amps to seriously injur someone. Or not turning main breaker to pole off so you are not go to injur a worker out on pole. That is the good thing about the bypass we have you turn off main breaker and slide plate up to turn it to generator. No way you can have the main breaker on when in generator mode. I am sure that a lot the members here would be able to do this safely. Just remember you never heard it from me lol.

You must be right in the sweet spot then. Is your local power generated from coal or hydro? Around here it is all hydroelectric from dams. There a wackos around who want to breach our dams, so far they haven’t been able to. Hydroelectric dams are the cleanest source of power and you have people wanting to take them out. Only in America.

we are coal and we have the same wackos here... 3 years back at a decommission coal plant along the dan river, a underground culvert pipe at run under the coal ash tailing failed and forgot how many tons of ash went into the river...okay understandable... now duke power wants a increase to cover their clean up costs at all their coal plants.. heck they are selling the ash to concrete companies..as you said only in america...

Hubs wired the entire new Spec home we just sold last July. He's a painting contractor. The City of Angels inspector said he wished Elec contractors would do as good a job as he did!

pride in your work is very important most contractors just bang it out and hope the inspector does not see it...
have been blessed to have a electrician who has been my mator over the last 14 years, he does code and one step beyond what is required...
