Well for me, spring started cool and wet but managed to get everything started and planted out, June turned out to be warmer than usual, thought we were going to have another summer like last year, not so. Cooler temps and rain, rain and more rain, weeds loved it.

Just when it started to clear, I ended up stuck in bed nursing an ice pack for the next 6 weeks, doc never did figure out what caused what he thought was pinched nerves with a dose of bursitis to top it off, I hadn't done anything to warrant it, just woke up with it. I had another ex-ray and before that a CAT scan on my lower back, nothing showed up, seems to be the story of my life, probably something related to Lupus:hu.

Soooo, he sent me home with some painkillers and told me I'd just have to ride it out. This time round let me tell you a ice pack became my best friend ( take it from me everyone should keep a couple of ice packs in the freezer), painkillers didn't even dent the pain so quit taking them as all they were doing was plug me up. I'm very thankful for all the rain we had while I was laid up, didn't lose anything:celebrate.

Hubby is not a gardener but helps me with all the grunt work and fashions different things to make things easier for me, love that man. This time round he was amazing, kept everything watered that needed it, became main cook and bottle washer, cooking is not his thing, he turned to the internet for instructions and I have to say he did good:love.

I'm back up and at it again, but whatever I had it sure knocked the stuffing out of me and now the temps are back up in the 80's, something else for me to whine about. I know a piece of cake for most of you but when you are used to summers in the low 70's it makes a difference. Things are growing surprisingly well, beans are good for the most part, we're eating cucs from the garden but the tomatoes are going to be late this year, it's going to be the end of August before we'll see a vine ripe tomato, we were eating them this time last year. Did I mention I have the biggest, healthy-est, crop of weeds I've ever seen, I'm afraid everything is just going to duke it out this year, best man win sort of thing.
Already making plans for the garden next year, as long as I can walk and breathe I'll have a garden, maybe not as big or eye catching as years gone by but I will have a garden.

I planted sweet corn as early as possible this spring. Had great germination, but with all the spring rains, so did the weeds. They got ahead of me and crowded out the corn, a lost cause, so I ended up mowing it down. Bummer!
