Dad told the story of a pig named Lester D. Pester the family raised one year. Lester thought he was a dog. He would sun himself on the back porch and follow Grandpa around like a puppy. Lester especially loved to have his tummy scratched. At the day's end, Grandpa could be found sitting and scratching Lester on the porch.
Then came fall and butchering time. Grandpa got the axe, buckets, chopping block, everything ready and called for Lester. Lester ran to Grandpa and flipped over for a good scratching. Grandpa couldn't do it! He traded Lester for a neighbor's pig so the butchering could be done.
