What do you find new and somewhat startling in today's world?

.. in my little world - it's startling how messy my house gets M-F when I'm pretty much only there to sleep. I keep accusing the cats of leaving socks and dirty dishes all over the place. They are indifferent to my frustration.

Also a tiny bit startling - how many simple foods are available pre-made, packaged & frozen - mashed potatoes, peanut butter & jelly sandwiches, sliced veggies of every kind...
