Good question.... I'd actually have to ask. I just know he lets me pick some when they start falling on the ground. They are a lot of work though! lol

I say go for it greenthumb. You still may want to have 2 of them, each different varieties. Yours may be self pollinating, but for many things another pollinator helps, plus you like them so much. Add to that, you may have better luck with one than the other on different years.
