so my gorgeous and getting bigger aloe is kinda needing a new pot but idk what type to get. Also I'd like to propagate and give my mother one for her kitchen window. A leaf popped off while dusting, can I use it to make mom a plant?

I think I remember that aloe vera likes to be potbound, and will send up baby plants when it is potbound. I don't believe that a leaf will grow a new plant.

It's very hard to start an aloe vera by leaf cuttings but if it is off why not try.....make it a clean angled cut. I would leave it dry out on the counter for at least a week. Then use rooting hormone, ground cinnamon or honey on the cut, dried end and stick it in a small pot with good potting soil. Water and let it dry out before watering again...

The main plant looks like it could use a new pot or at least new soil. Don't make the pot too large....

Well, that sounds worth a try! I guess along the sides of the leaf there are little growth cells. Be sure to let us know if it works.
