Poor little lady bugs.....ripping off wings, glueing their wings. All they want is FREEDOM! I say liberate them. Freedom for ALL. STOP THE TYRANNY!
Don't forget the cola to stick their tiny wings together for a while. (tsk, tsk, @thistlebloom)

They agreed to get into the shipping box, @seedcorn. Don't you agree they should do the job they were sent to do before flitting off seeking greener pastures?

All aphids want is freedom to suck (and your garden). All Japanese Beetles want is freedom to procreate and munch at will. All mosquitoes want is freedom to use you to feed their young'uns. All I want is freedom to follow the Constitution. Where do we draw the line?

The second batch I released I used the 50/50 soda and water temporary wing glue. It worked, they stayed on the tree for 3 or 4 days and I found one egg cluster on a leaf. The 3rd release I sprayed them with the solution again before release but I guess it didn't work. Maybe because it was root beer and not Coke.
(tsk tsk?? Why?)

@Smart Red forgot about the soda water.

I question whether lady bugs given option of whether to get in box or where their release point was. Slavery and tyranny at its finest. Then the intense cruelty done to them..... Oh, I'm flabbergasted and shocked.

Maybe @thistlebloom has bad tasting aphids. Or maybe her lady bugs are pacifists. Let's all chant

FREEDOM, FREEDOM, FREEDOM......

Send me your weary, down trodden lady bugs. Here, they will find compassion (no tearing off wings or glueing them to body) and freedom.

But keep your aphids out west!!!! No compassion for them as they are the enemy... :smack

So compassion, freedom . . . . . and what?

@seedcorn wants all the ladybugs coming to his Indiana holdings. . . so he can watch them starve to death?

Honestly, if I had an aphid problem I would certainly get some ladybugs long before I would go for the Aphid-Away spray. "Fly away home", that's what they are famous for and attempted tyranny not withstanding, that's what they do.

Not me, my lady bugs can go look in the wild where aphids and other tasty tid bits roaming free... :)

When we get aphids here (they come from storms that go through Minnesota and Wisconsin) we kill them.

Did kids learn anything? If so, project was a success.
