Hi ;) I have 2 gardens im starting on, one is a huge vegetable garden, the only thing we have planted so far is onions, but we got lots more seeds that we want to plant of diffrent veggies, are we running really late on this, or will it be fine us just starting out now? Another question is, i want to do a big flower garden, i havent started on that yet at all, but plan to in the next week, am i running late on this garden as well or will everything grow okay? One more thing, i have 2 rose bushes that have leaves on the stems and they are in a bag and the tops of the plants are sticking out from the top of the bag, i havent had a chance to plant it yet, how do i care for it til i get a chance to plant it this week? Theres no instructions on the bag how to care for it before its planted. I appreciate any help at all, and thank you!:)

never too late to plant a garden. I just got mine in last week and that's very early for me.

Don't let the roses dry out. If possible, just did a hole in garden and stick them in it. Then transplant whenever.

You really should get an idea on your frost dates.

You are probably only late for the earliest plantings since much of your state is only frost-free after April 15th. (Of course, it depends on the year. ;)) It is likely that most everything that you want to plant for the cool-season can still go in.

Hi there, :welcome

As to your roses you don't say whether they are in pots or, as I suspect, bare-rooted ? If in pots of earth, just water & stand somewhere out of the wind & cold. If bare-rooted and you intend to plant later this week place the roots in a deep bucket of water immediately & leave them there till you plant. Stand the bucket in your garage or under cover but not heated, unless it is freezing outside. As I am in The UK I don't quite understand the intricacies of your zones & temperatures but I can answer rose problems as I grow a lot of them. :rose

Your rose supplier should have given you instruction on how to deal with them on arrival & for planting. if you need more help just let us know.

Hope this helps -- HAPPY GARDENING :tools GOOD LUCK. It sounds as if you are going to be pretty busy this year!! :weight

I am really late too. I just recently built my raised beds and they aren't even filled with soil yet. I plan to just plant warm season crops and then fall crops (if I ever get the beds filled.)
