Amberlinks and brown eggs...or are they???

No breeding program here Red. No roosters. I have only seen -20 or colder here once, almost 20 years ago. We'll get to 0 to -5 a few times each winter though.

Went out t the coop to water the chickens found one egg in a nest box!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :celebrate :weee :celebrate :thumbsup Then seen Goldilox in the favorite corner laying her egg, I watched her.... her egg is brown and so is the one in the nest box. Just waiting for the white egg of the day :barnie Oh well! Miss Prissy (tail feathers) is hanging out in the corner too. Should be my next egg. Goldilox's egg hit the floor and cracked a little :(

Lets see what happens if one of those hens goes broody. Who needs a rooster. I'll commit right now to shipping you a half dozen hatching eggs. Just tell me when.

Minus five is no danger to leghorn combs so not to worry . . . unless the coop is not vented properly. Moisture is more of a cause for frost bitten combs than the cold alone.
