Not a fan of paw paws....to me they taste a little of rot. Used to be a lot of paw paw trees hereabouts but haven't seen one for some time.

I too do not like banana splits...shouldn't taint good icecream, chocolate and whipped cream with a banana. Love banana nut bread and like bananas with crunchy peanut butter on them, but not a fan of an overripe banana.

Since banana nut bread and pecan pie are among Southern and Texas favorite desert fares .... Can you make an exception and partake of banana nut bread made with overripe bananas ( bananas have to be overripe or the bread just doesn't taste good )and pecans like my wife's banana nut breads as well as her pecan pies took first place awards at several Cal. county fairs ? :drool :drool
YES YES YES on the Pecan Pie! I pick out pecans every year and put them in the freezer for our enjoyment all year.

NO! NO! NO! on the banana nut bread. Or banana anything. My Mom told me I wouldn't eat them as a baby and normally babies love bananas. Not. Me. I have never liked them, never will.

Don't like catsup either.

Melt butter in heavy saucepan over medium heat, add brown sugar and whisk untill smooth. Remove from heat and whisk in corn syrup, vanilla, zest, salt and corn starch. Beat eggs and whisk into mixture . Put in pecans onto chilled pie dough then pour mixture evenly over pecans. Bake pie over backing sheet ( to catch any liquid overflow ) untill filling is set for 50 to 60 minutes. Cool completely. Serve with whipped cream or ice cream or without topping. ENJOY !!! :drool :drool :drool And for all EXCEPT for Baymule to save her taste buds: Banana nut bread : Ingredients: 1/2c. shortening , 1 tsp. lemon juice , 1 c sugar, 2 large eggs, 3 WAY OVER RIPE (like all BLACK skin is the best ) bananas ( mash with fork untill smooth ), 1 c. flour , 1 1/2tsp. baking powder , 1/2 tsp. baking soda, 1/4 tsp. salt ( NaCl) , 2 Tsp. sour milk, 1cup grated pecans. Cream first 3 ingredients. Add well beaten eggs and creamed bananas and mix well. Mix in flour, BP, soda and salt. Add half to banana mixture and mix well. Add sour milk and remaining ingredients. I don't remember anyone saying paw paws needed a frost. I am pretty sure it's persimmon, like you mentioned. I have a a little nursery near me that sells paw paws from seed. He starts the seeds in 18" long by 3"round pvc pipes because they have a taproot when they first start growing and this method helps to keep from damaging the taproot.

Thank you @bobm!!!! :clap I will most definitely try it. Pecan pie is my favorite but unfortunately I haven't found one like I had 30 years ago in Georgia. That pie had a thick high filling, maybe about an inch high. It was firm but only enough where the filling didn't run out of the cut piece. I was in training for 5 weeks and every day I would take a piece to my room for later. :)
