What an exhausting day. The kids got to go to Nana's house for a bit while I had a dentist appointment. When I got them home it was chaos!

My daughter has so far managed to hit herself with one of those paddle and ball on a string toys so hard it left a bruise, fall over a dog step and hit her knee so hard the pain made her puke, and slice her toe. I recommended she try quiet activities that have less injury risk, but she wants to help me do everything.

I like the days when she wants to help me, but not the injuries! When she asked to help me cut patterns (and use the mighty sewing scissors the length of her forearm) I suggested instead of sewing we bake bread. She helped me make my first sourdough loaf, wash some dishes, and then cooked herself some popcorn.

She's settled now watching a hamster video for a few minutes while we wait for the loaf to rise, hopefully she doesn't decide to do something crazy.

I'll take pictures of the grow tent later. Everything is so big now!

Sorry dear. I hope she feels better quickly. You're a good mom for accepting their help. I'm sure whatever you're doing with their help takes twice as long than it would if you did it alone :).

You have to admire their zeal, and their desire to be helpful. Consider the alternative... :hide You & your daughter will laugh over those memories some day. :hugs

She fell asleep after helping me cook spaghetti. She meant to help more, but she is only 4 after all. It was a tiring day for her too!

It does help that my son is so much older. When I'm about ready to tear out my hair from all the help, he'll take her off to play. He's such a good kid. <3
That’s what kids do. Be glad she wants to help!
I'm very glad! It is funny when people come over and see her cooking/baking/sewing/gardening at levels some teenagers have not yet learned. ;-) Most of the time she's pretty adept at doing these things too, but I get nervous when she's having a clumsy day. One good snip of those scissors and off goes a finger

It's only been about 3 weeks but most things are big. It looks like in a 3 week comparison, my peppers aren't growing at all again. They had such a good start too. I think it might be a light issue which I've just changed. I know it isn't overwatering. One of them got damaged from getting too dry because I kept thinking watering was the problem. >.<

Dance classes? Piano lessons? 4 isn't too early to dance or start an instrument.
I am a pianist and it IS a physical activity.
I am a classical music lurker. I learn so much from classical music stations, local and SIRIUS where they talk "gossip" about dead composers, (who are now de-composing.) IF your child is taking music lessons it often happens that a child will decide to change instruments bc the original isn't the right fit. Just some FYI.

My son started violin at 4. :) He lost interest eventually, and now isn't interested in music at all. My daughter wants to take voice lessons, but they start at 5. She would love dance classes and I believe the YMCA, which does her swim lessons, also has dance. I'll look into it.

Ballet would be great too :).
My kids are in a non traditional piano lessons. They learn chords, sing and it's a group class. They love it so much more than one on one traditional lessons. They are also learning so much more and actually love to practice.
